I’m a little bit late writing about this, but as Hyatt revealed its latest promotion yesterday and as Marriott’s latest global promotion is now live, I thought that I should probably catch up and write about Hilton’s 4Q promotion that’s been live since last week.

Key terms

  • The promotion period runs September 6, 2023, through December 31, 2023 (“promotion period”)
  • Hilton Honors members must register for the promotion at HiltonHonors.com/MultiplyYourPoints
  • Registered Hilton Honors members will earn Double Points for stays during the promotion period. “Double Points” means members will receive a bonus equal to the number of Base Points earned during a stay.
  • Registered Hilton Honors members will earn Triple Points for stays during the promotion period when staying at a property in select markets*. “Triple Points” means members will receive a bonus equal to double the number of Base Points earned during a stay.
  • “Double Points” and “Triple Points” are not stacked – a member may earn either “Double Points” or “Triple Points” on a stay.
  • A stay is defined as the total number of consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, whether or not a guest checks out and checks back in again.
  • A list of ineligible rates can be found under the Hilton Honors Terms and Conditions: Accrual of Points number 3.
  • Existing reservations made prior to registration (and that fall within the promotion period) will be eligible for this promotion as long as the member is registered for the promotion prior to check-out of the stay and the reservation is for an eligible stay. Regardless of when a reservation was booked, any registered guests with nights within the Promotion period will receive the promotion bonus.
  • Registered members checking in before September 6, 2023, will receive credit for their stay if the stay is completed on or after September 6, 2023, and prior to or on December 31, 2023. • Only members registered prior to check-out will receive Bonus Points with the “Multiply Your Points” promotion for nights within the promotion period.
  • As long as a member earns Base Points as part of a Reward Stay, that member will will earn Bonus Points based on their number of Base Points earned.
  • There is no limit to the total amount of Bonus Points that may be earned during the promotion period with this offer.

Thoughts

The first thing to stress is that you must register to earn 2x/3x base points. Any stays made prior to registration will not earn the bonus points this promotion is offering so make sure you register asap.

The second thing to stress is that a stay has to end on/by 31 December 2023 to count towards this promotion.

If you’re planning on booking a stay that overlaps 31 December 2023 it may be worth considering moving hotels on that date if the number of points you’d earn in the promotion makes it worthwhile.

Other than that minor inconvenience, the news here is generally good:

  1. All Hilton properties worldwide are participating.
  2. If you check-in before the start of the promotion but check out after the start date, you’ll earn 2x or 3x points on your whole stay.

This may not sound like the most exciting of promotions but considering the disappointing promotions we’ve seen from Hyatt and Marriott, this really isn’t too bad as it can offer a path to earning a good number of Hilton Honors points in the last four months of this year.

Here are a couple of examples to give you an idea of what this promotion’s earnings can look like:

At the higher end, a Diamond member spending $600 on a stay at a full-service property offering 2x points and paying with a Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card, would earn a total of 26,400 points for their stay:

  • 6,000 base points (at 10 points/dollar)
  • 6,000 elite points (100% bonus for being a top-tier elite)
  • 8,400 points from their credit card (14 points/dollar)
  • 6,000 bonus points from the 2x points part of the promotion

If this stay is being made at a property that’s offering 3x points, the Diamond member’s earnings would jump to 32,400.

A little lower down the elite ladder, a mid-tier Gold member spending $600 on their stay at a full-service property offering 2x points and choosing to pay with a card_name, would earn 24,000 points for their stay:

  • 6,000 base points (at 10 points/dollar)
  • 4,800 elite points (80% bonus for holding Gold elite status)
  • 7,200 points from their credit card (12 points/dollar)
  • 6,000 bonus points from the 2x points part of the promotion

If this stay is being made at a property that’s offering 3x points, the Gold member’s earnings would jump to 30,000.

As I value Hilton points at 0.4 cents each (based on the value that I know I can get out of them with relative ease), I consider these points totals to represent effective rebates of between $96 and $130.

That’s pretty good going considering Diamond elite status and Gold elite status aren’t particularly hard to come by if you have access to US-issued credit cards.

Note: All information about the Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card has been collected independently by Traveling For Miles. The Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card is not currently available through Traveling For Miles.

Bottom line

Whether or not you think you’ll be staying at a Hilton property in the final four months of this year, you should be registering for this promotion. Plans change and you never know when you’ll find yourself unexpectedly at a Hilton property and it would be a shame to leave a stack of points on the table just because you didn’t take a few seconds to register in advance of your stay.

Overall, this isn’t a promotion that’s likely to change anyone’s plans, but it is one in which it should be easy to pick up a good number of points with little to no effort.
