Updated 23 October 2024: Delta has added widebody aircraft to a few weekend flights out of New York JFK
Generally speaking, widebody aircraft are configured for long-haul international flying, and this means that the cabins you’ll find onboard are often more comfortable than the cabins offered on the narrowbody aircraft that we usually find operating domestically on short haul routes.
This is especially true when it comes to the premium cabins with some widebodies offering a Premium Economy cabin and with most widebodies offering a First/Business Class cabin with seats that convert into lie-flat beds.
All of this can be what makes it special to find that an airline is offering you a widebody aircraft on a domestic route that usually offers a more dismal narrowbody experience, and with Aeroroutes now having compiled a list of domestic routes on which Delta is offering a widebody aircraft, we can now see what short-haul routes Delta’s more comfortable cabins can be found on.

This route’s widebody scheduling is a bit more complicated.

It should go without saying that all of these flights/routes may be subject to changes, so make sure you check the schedules carefully before you may any bookings based on this information.
Bottom line
There you have it. If you’re a Delta flyer looking for a bit of extra comfort on your domestic flights, the routes listed above currently offer you the best chance of booking a lie-flat bed, a Premium Economy seat or even just a regular Economy Class seat with a bit more legroom than is usually on offer.
Keep in mind that the cabins you’ll find on Delta’s various long-haul aircraft can vary wildly (the inside of the A350 looks very different to the inside of a 767), so check to see what the aircraft you’re booking offers before you book to avoid disappointment.
If anyone spots an error above or knows of one or more other domestic routes on which Delta is currently offering a long-haul product, let us know in the comments and we’ll update the list above.
