Outside of a small group of people whose reasoning I don’t think that I’ll ever understand, the consensus appears to be that the new(ish) British Airways Club Suite is a huge improvement on the ying/yang Club World seats that the airline has been flying since humans discovered fire, so the introduction of the Club Suite on long-haul routes is always keenly anticipated.

At 6,765 miles, the London – Singapore route is one of BA’s longer routes and the schedules have, up until now, told us that the airline was planning to swap out the A380 that currently operates one of this route’s two daily flights for a Boeing 777-300ER (complete with the new Club Suites) from the end of March next year.

Unfortunately, that’s no longer what the schedules show, so if you’ve been looking forward to an elevated British Airways Business Class experience on the Singapore route, you’re going to have to wait a little longer.

As things stand right now, an A380 will continue to operate one BA’s two daily flights to/from Singapore past 30 March and until at least the end of May 2025 [HT: Aeroroutes]

This is what the double-daily schedule on this route looks like for May 2025:

BA11 LHR 19:35 – 16:05 SIN (Daily A380 service)
BA15 LHR 21:10 – 17:45 SIN (Daily 787-9 service)

BA16 SIN 22:35 – 05:25+1 day LHR (Daily 787-9 service)
BA12 SIN 23:20 – 06:30+1 day LHR (Daily A380 service)

As you can see, the second of the two daily flights is operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and while the airline’s smaller Dreamliners are currently being refitted with the new Club Suites, I don’t believe the first 787-9 has yet been taken out of service to be upgraded.

The Club Suite is now scheduled to make an appearance on the Singapore route from 1 June 2025 when the upgraded 777 is now scheduled to replace the A380, but as BA has changed this plan once already, there’s no reason to believe that it won’t change the plan again.

This is bad news for BA’s flyers on two levels.

Firstly and most obviously, it’s bad news for anyone paying to fly British Airways Business Class to or from Singapore before 1 June 2025 as they’re set to be flying in the sub-par Club World cabin. If when you originally booked, the 777 was set to operate your flight, this will probably be especially frustrating.

Secondly, it’s bad news for anyone booked to fly on BA11/BA12 (regardless of cabin) as the British Airways A380s have been spectacularly unreliable since they came out of storage following the pandemic.

Barely a week goes by without one or more BA A380s causing issues (long delays or flight cancellations – see this Flyertalk thread) so this is something that flyers on the Singapore route will have to put up with for two months more than originally expected (possibly longer if BA changes its plans again).

If you’re booked to fly this route after 30 March 2025 and were expecting an upgraded experience, you have my sympathies.

Bottom line

Contrary to what was originally planned, British Airways will not now introduce its Club Suite Business Class cabin to its London Singapore route on 30 March 2025.

Instead, the latest schedules show the cabin arriving two months later on 1 June, so if you are booked to fly on BA11 or BA12 in May or June 2025, check your bookings as your aircraft had changed and your seat assignments will almost certainly have changed as well.
