Quick thoughts
There’s one very critical part of this promotion that no one should overlook and that’s the part where the terms and conditions say this:
Any change is strictly not permitted for bookings made under this Promotion. Cancellation is also not permitted for partially unused or totally unused tickets.
I’ve never booked a redemption in one of these sales before, but that sounds very much like a ‘use it or lose it’ situation once you’ve booked (i.e. you don’t get you miles back if you change your mind).
Assuming that to be the case (I can’t think what else that term could mean), no one should be booking one of these redemptions without being very sure that they will be able to travel.
As far as the deals go …
There are quite a few blackout dates to contend with and on some routes the discounted rate is only available on select flights, so there’s quite a bit to look out for when planning a trip.
Obviously, it would have been nice to see some truly long-haul routes included in the Business Class category, but it’s good to see discounted Premium Economy awards available to/from San Francisco and JFK as there looks to be value there.
It will be interesting to see how these deals compare to the Spontaneous Escapes that should appear somewhere around 16 September.
Bottom line
Singapore Airlines has launched a new sale in which all Economy Class awards across its network are reduced by 25% and select Business Class and Premium Economy awards are reduced by the same amount.
Please pay close attention to the terms and conditions before you book (it looks like the bookings are non-refundable) and make sure you check the blackout dates for your preferred routes and they vary from destination to destination.
