Quick thoughts

Leading Hotels of the World isn’t a hotel group like Marriott or Hyatt. It’s a marketing program for 400+ (mostly) independent luxury hotels around the world.

Some of the better known hotels that are part of this marketing program include the Ritz in London, the Ritz in Paris, the Baglioni Resort in the Maldives, the Capitol Kempinski in Singapore, and the Halekulani in Honolulu.

Anyone booking a stay at one of these properties is not going to find it difficult to meet the offer’s spending criteria (it’s funny to see that Amex’s terms suggest that the $700 target doesn’t have to be met in a single transaction).

Historically, we’ve seen Amex also publish a parallel offer in which a $150 statement credit could be earned, but that offer doesn’t appear to have surfaced this year (let me know in the comments if you see it).

Overall, this isn’t exactly going to make a huge dent in what is likely to be a substantial bill for a Leading Hotels stay, but 15,000 points is still a very nice bonus to be offered (we value it at $225), and it’s great to see an Amex offer that includes so many properties outside the US/North America.

We’ve seen this offer targeted to all of our Membership Rewards cards including the Platinum Card® from American Express, the Amex EveryDay® Credit Card, the Business Platinum Card® from American Express and the Blue Business® Plus Credit Card from American Express, so it looks like it should be widely available and open to American Express® Green Card holders who will be able to stack it with the 3 points/dollar that their card offers on eligible worldwide travel (terms apply).

Note: All information about the Amex EveryDay® Credit Card and the American Express® Green Card has been collected independently by Traveling For Miles. Neither the Amex EveryDay® Credit Card or the American Express® Green Card are currently available through Traveling For Miles.

Bottom line

American Express is currently targeting cardholders for 15,000 bonus points when the book and pay for a $700+ stay at select properties within the Leading Hotels of Portfolio before 8 December 2024. This offer appears to be widely available, so make sure that you load it to the card that will offer you the best return on hotel/travel spending.
