American Express has launched a new targeted offer for spending made with Virgin Atlantic this morning and this is a variation (it’s slightly worse) of the standard Virgin Atlantic offer that we’re used to seeing Amex publish every now and again.
Note: The last time this offer ran, the rebate was for $300 on $2,000 of spending.

Earn a one-time $250 statement credit after using your enrolled eligible Card to spend a minimum of $2,000 in one or more flights purchased online at virginatlantic.com by 9/23/2025. Flight must originate in the US and be paid for in USD to qualify.

Quick thoughts
The first bit of good news is that multiple purchases totaling $2,000 or more will trigger this offer so you don’t have to spend the whole amount in one transaction.
The second bit of good news is that cardholders have until 23 September 2025 to trigger this offer and as that’s only the deadline for booking a qualifying flight, this offer should be valid on bookings for travel into August 2026.
As usual, the one key bit of bad news is that the rebate is only available on trips originating in the United States and fares paid in USD (that rules out any cheap premium cabin fares originating in Europe).
If you’re considering a premium cabin booking, keep in mind that while it used to be hard to recommend Virgin Atlantic thanks to its appalling horse box style Business Class seats, some of the aircraft that it now operates now feature considerably newer business class seats and a new Premium Economy seat, and these are the aircraft you should aim to book if possible.

A question which will undoubtedly come up is the one asking if taxes and surcharges on a Virgin Atlantic award booking will trigger the credit? And the answer to that is that I don’t know for sure.
I know of occasions (in the past) where Virgin Atlantic surcharges have counted towards the spending target for Amex offers such as this one, but that doesn’t mean that the same applies today.
Targeted cards
We can see this offer targeted to every American Express card we hold (including business cards) so not only is the targeting broad (most US readers should see it on one or more cards), but the Platinum Card® from American Express is also being targeted, so if you hold the Platinum consumer card, you should be able to stack this deal with the 5 points/dollar on up to $500,000 of spending made directly with airlines that your card offers (1 point/dollar thereafter – terms apply).
If you don’t hold the Platinum consumer card, you next best option will probably be the American Express® Green Card which offers 3 points/dollar on most travel purchases (terms apply).

Bottom line
If you’re considering booking a transatlantic trip in the next couple of months (for travel as far into the future as August 2026), log into your Amex account and check to see if you have been targeted for an offer that would save you $250 on $2,000 of Virgin Atlantic spending.

I actually bought a ticket with virgin two days ago with my Amex gold,
I enrolled to the offer today, the payment still showing pending on my transaction history, do you think that I’d still eligible?
You may get lucky, but this is the term that may cause you issues “Must first add offer to Card and then use same Card to redeem.”.
Unless the offer was added before the charge was made, Amex probably doesn’t have to pay the rebate.
