There has been quite a lot of email activity from Hyatt in the past few weeks as the hotelier promotes discounts for stays in various parts of the world (check your spam/junk folders if you haven’t been getting these), so I’m using this article to highlight a couple of good Hyatt promotions that may have got missed in all the noise.
Earn double elite nights & bonus points in Florida
Earn 1,000 Bonus Points per qualifying night, plus double night
credits toward tier status at participating hotels and resorts in Florida.
Key terms you should know:
- Register by 30 August 2024
- Stay by 30 September 2024
- Beginning on your first eligible stay after registration, you will receive 1,000 Bonus Points and double Tier Qualifying Night credits for every Eligible Night stayed at participating Hyatt hotels and resorts in Florida during the Promotion Period.
- A maximum of 20,000 Bonus Points and 20 Tier Qualifying Night credits may be earned under this promotion.
- All points awarded under this promotion and bonus offer are Bonus Points.
- For the purpose of this promotion and bonus offer, an “Eligible Night” is defined as any night where a member is paying an Eligible Rate or redeems a free night award.
- Only the room occupied by the member will count toward this promotion and bonus offer.
- You must provide your World of Hyatt membership number at the time of check in for each stay.
- Please allow two to four weeks after checkout for Bonus Points and the Tier Qualifying Nights credits to be posted to your World of Hyatt account.
Quick thoughts
It would have been nice if this wasn’t just limited to Florida (obviously), but this is still a very nice promotion to see published and even though it has been going for a few weeks, there’s still plenty of time to make the most of it if you can put up with the idea of visiting Florida (just kidding, don’t email in!)
It could be argued that the bonus points on offer here are mostly irrelevant given the value of the elite night credits that are also on offer (who doesn’t love a nice boost towards earning or retaining elite status), but 1,000 points per night still translates to an effective rebate of $14/night (if you value Hyatt points at 1.4 cents each as I do) and that’s as rebate worth having.
Don’t forget that free night awards (whether booked with points or certificates) are valid for this promotion, so because Hyatt waives destination fees on all award bookings it’s entirely possible to get a lot of value out of this promotion without handing over any cash for your hotel stays.
Overall, the double elite night credits are the star here and for once this is a Hyatt promotion for which it may be worth making an extra effort.
Ordinarily (and as you’ll see below), I say that these promotions are nice bonuses to have if you were already planning on making a stay at a participating location, but that no one should be going out of their way to participate.
In this case, however, if the double elite night credits look like they could make a difference to the World of Hyatt status you have for next year, a previously unplanned booking to a civilised part of Florida may be worth making.
Earn bonus points in Latin America & the Caribbean
Earn 5,000 Bonus Points for every 3 qualifying nights at participating locations in Latin America and the Caribbean (up to 20,000 bonus points).
Key terms you should know:
- Register by 30 September 2024
- Stay by 14 October 2024
- Beginning after registration and during the Promotion Period, you will receive 5,000 Bonus Points for every 3 Eligible Nights at participating Hyatt hotels & resorts in Latin America and the Caribbean.
- A maximum of 20,000 Bonus Points may be earned under this promotion.
- Please allow two to four weeks after checkout for Bonus Points to be posted to your World of Hyatt account.
- A limited number of rooms are allocated to this offer; reservations subject to availability.
- Offer not valid with groups, conventions, other promotional offers, packages or special rate programs.
- Offer not valid in conjunction with previously booked or held stays and may not be combined with other offers, promotions, or discounts, except as expressly stated.
Quick thoughts
Clearly, this is the weaker of the two offers being highlighted in this article, but with Latin American and the Caribbean both being very popular vacation destinations and with this offer coinciding (partly) with the school vacations, this may be the offer that more World of Hyatt members find themselves using organically.
To max-out this offer a World of Hyatt member would need to stay just 12 nights at participating properties, and that’s not a particularly big challenge at this time of year.
Given the cost of Hyatt awards nowadays, 20,000 points isn’t going to get you far (unless you find a great Cat 1 location charging 3,500 – 5,000 points per night), but that will still be enough for at least one or two nights at some middle-of-the-road properties which isn’t bad going.
Overall, if you were planning to stay at a participating location anyway, these bonus points represent a nice added bonus, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to make any bookings that I hadn’t planned on making just because this offer has come around.
Bottom line
There are a couple of Hyatt promotions running right now that may be of interest to anyone looking to lock in a few more elite night credits or to earn a few more Hyatt points.
Personally, the first promotion with its elite night credits looks the most tempting, but if you were already planning a trip to Latin America or the Caribbean, the second promotion may be the best one for you.
