Well, this isn’t something I remember seeing in the past! American Express has published a new targeted offer for Allegiant Air spending in which select card holders can earn a rebate of $50 on just $200 of spending.

Quick thoughts
Where to start?! I’m not used to seeing offers for Allegiant Air appear on my Amex cards (let alone the Platinum Card), but if Walmart is an appropriate partner for the Platinum Card, why not Allegiant? 🙂
Overall there’s mostly good news here.
The main bit of good news is that the $200 of spending that’s needed to trigger the $50 rebate doesn’t have to be made in a single transaction, so multiple flight bookings that add up to at least $200 will activate the rebate.
On most airlines, that would probably be a moot point, but given how low some of Allegiant’s fares can be, that may prove to be useful.
Also, we’re seeing this offer on all our consumer Amex cards (but not on the business cards) so it looks like this isn’t particularly narrowly targeted.
Finally, and this isn’t great, make sure you note that you bace to book and pay by 30 September 2026, so this isn’t an Amex offer with a nice wide usage window.
The one oddity here is that for some reason, Amex has included wording about purchases having to be made in USD to qualify and it says that flights have to originate in the US to qualify, but Allegiant doesn’t fly anywhere outside the US (yes, I checked), so what’s that all about? A copy and paste gone wrong? 🙂
Which card?
Clearly, having it targeted to the Platinum Card® from American Express would be best as that would allow you to trigger the offer while earning the 5 points/dollar on spending made directly with airlines that the card offers (up to $500,000 per year and 1 point/dollar thereafter – terms apply).
Failing that, the American Express® Classic Green Card (no longer open to new applicants) would be a good option as that card earns 3 points/dollar on most travel spending (terms apply).

Bottom line
If you have plans to spend $200 or more with Allegiant Air by the end of September, you should check your online Amex accounts to see if you’ve been targeted for an offer that could earn you a $50 statement credit.
Don’t forget that you only have to book and pay by 30 September 2026 to trigger the $50 credit, so the flights can be taken for any dates that Allegiant is currently selling.
