Most of the year, Qatar Airways runs promotions that offer travelers one or more incentives to join its Privilege Club program and if you’re US-based, the fact that Qatar Airways is a Citi Thank You program transfer partner is another good reason to get signed up if you aren’t already.
There is, however, a third reason to make sure that you’re a Privilege Club member – you get emailed a future flight discount in honor of your birthday.
Qatar Airways birthday bonus
In recent years, my birthday bonus from Qatar Airways has arrived on or around my actual birthday, but for the past two years, the bonus arrived almost two months early.
The following email from the Qatar Airways Privilege Club (free to join) dropped into my inbox with the following text:
Plan the perfect birthday trip with 10% off
[N]ow is the time to start planning the birthday trip of a lifetime. We’re treating you to 10% off your next flight with us.
Book today using the code [redacted], and let the celebrations begin!
The key terms of the offer seem simple enough:
- The promotion code is valid for use from the day of receipt until 90 days after the Privilege Club member’s registered birthday.
- Travel can be taken up to 1 year from the date of receipt of the discount code.
- The promo code can only be redeemed once for a single booking, but there is no limit on the passenger count within that booking.
- The discount is valid on Economy Class flights booked into the following fare codes: O, T, Q, N, S, V, M, L, and K.
- The discount is valid on Business Class flights booked into the following fare codes: R, I, and D.
- The discount is valid on First Class flights booked into the A fare code on intra-Gulf Flights between United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Egypt, Oman, Kuwait, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Qatar only.
- The offer is non-transferable.
- The offer will discount a base fare by 10% (taxes/fees are not discounted) and while the discount can only be used once and on a single booking, it will discount the cost of travel for everyone included in the booking (there’s no limit to how many people are included in the booking).
- The discount will only work for itineraries that only include Qatar Airways flights (partner flights cannot be included).
Sometimes we see Qatar Airways thrown some bonus Qpoints into the offer as well (the last time these appeared 20 bonus points were offered), but I haven’t seen any promotions offering this added bonus recently.
Current Privilege Club sign-up bonus
As I mentioned at the start, Qatar Airways usually has some kind of promotion running to prompt people to join its Privilege Club and right now, there are a few such promotions around (see your region’s Qatar Airways page to see what’s on offer).
The promotion for the US currently looks like this:
- Sign up for a Qatar Airways Privilege Club account using promo code PCAMER25 (here) by 31 December 2025.
- Travel by 30 June 2026.
- Collect 3,000 bonus Avios for your first Economy Class booking as a member.
- Collect 5,000 bonus Avios for your first Business or First Class booking as a member.
- Bonus Avios will be credited to the membership account immediately after the first flight with Qatar Airways, if the enrolment and travel is within the offer period.
Full details of this offer can be found on this promotion page.
Bottom line
Based on recent experiences, members of the Qatar Airways Privilege Club continue to receive a bonus ‘gift’ from the program in honor of their birthday and once again, this gift comes in the form of a discount code that gives the bearer 10% off a future flight booking made in select fare codes.
Given that the Qatar Airways Privilege Club costs nothing to join, this seems like another good reason to join.

Tried to use my birthday certificate, and the fare was higher than the fare without the discount code….just another QR promotional gimmick I guess
