As was teased a few days ago and as has been widely expected, the Platinum Card® from American Express has been refreshed and after weeks of speculation, we finally know what the card will look like going forward.
I’m not going to go into great detail when it comes to the changes or offer many thoughts on what Amex has done (that will come in a future article), so for now, this is what’s staying the same and this is what changing with the consumer Platinum card from American Express.
All the changes are effective 18 September 2025.

Costs
Annual fee
The card’s annual fee has increased from $695 to $895.
Benefits
Uber One credit
A new $120/year Uber One credit has been introduced to cover Uber One membership.
This will cover monthly and annual Uber One membership purchases for Uber accounts located in the U.S. for eligible deliveries or rides in U.S. cities where Uber, Uber Eats, and/or Postmates are available.
Oura Ring credit
A new annual $200 Oura Ring credit is now available to cover Oura Ring purchases made online at the U.S. website and is not valid on purchases shipped to U.S. territories or outside the U.S.
Digital credit
The digital credit which the Platinum Card has offered for a number of years has been increased from $20/month to $25/month.
This is now eligible for purchases from Paramount+ and YouTube (both new additions) as well as Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu, the New York Times, Paramount+, Peacock, and the Wall Street Journal.
Lululemon credit
A new quarterly $75 Lululemon credit has been introduced.
Purchases which will trigger this credit are purchases made directly with lululemon at U.S. lululemon stores (excluding lululemon Studio, outlet locations, warehouse, event locations, showroom and wholesale transactions), online at U.S. website lululemon.com, or through the lululemon app.
Gift cards and purchases shipped outside the U.S. will not trigger the credit.
Resy credit
As was rumored, the consumer Platinum card gets a new $100/quarter Resy credit which can be triggered by purchases made directly from U.S. restaurants that offer reservations on Resy.com and the Resy app and which accept American Express® Cards.
Purchases made directly on Resy.com or in the Resy app, and purchases made via Resy Pay will also trigger the credit.
The hotel credit
The hotel credit has been boosted to $600/year split across two 6-month periods ($300 for Jan-June & $300 for July-Dec).
As was the case before the refresh, these credits will be triggered when a card member uses their cards to pay for eligible prepaid Fine Hotels + Resorts and the Hotel Collection bookings made through American Express Travel (meaning through amextravel.com, the Amex Travel App, the Amex App, or by calling the phone number on the back of their eligible Card.
Also as before, a single night stay at a Fine Hotels + Resorts property will trigger the credit, but a minimum stay of 2-nights is required to trigger the credit at a Hotel Collection property.
Leaders Club elite status
U.S. consumer Platinum Card holders and any additional Platinum Card® holders on the card account are eligible to enroll and receive Leaders Club Sterling Status from The Leading Hotels of the World.

Costs
The annual fee for an additional (authorized user) Platinum Card remains at $195.
Earning rates
Airfare purchases made directly with airlines or through Amex Travel will continue to earn 5 points/dollar up to $500,000 in charges per calendar year (1 point/dollar thereafter).
Purchases of prepaid hotel reservations booked through Amex Travel and purchases of prepaid vacation rental reservations booked through AmexTravel.com or the Amex Travel App will continue to earn 5 points/dollar.
Also, cardholders will continue to earn 2 points/dollar on select cruise bookings and on Amex Travel online bookings (excluding air and hotel bookings).
Benefits
- The $15/month ($35 in December) Uber Cash credit remains in place.
- The (up to) $209/year CLEAR Plus credit remains in place.
- The (up to) $120 every 4.5 years Global Entry/TSA PreCheck credit remains.
- The $200 per year annual airline fee credit remains unchanged.
- The $300/year credit for Equinox Gym membership is being kept as a benefit.
- The $100 per year ($50 per half-year) Saks credit remains unchanged.
- The Walmart+ credit remains in place
- Rules surrounding access to the Global Lounge Collection (which includes Centurion Lounges, Delta Sky Clubs, Plaza Premium Lounge, Priority Pass lounges and more) remain the same.
- Hilton Honors Gold Elite status remains as a benefit to cardholders.
- Marriott Bonvoy Gold elite status is still a cardholder benefit.
- The rent-a-car benefits and elite status levels appear to be unchanged.
As far as I can tell, that’s all the key changes accounted for (you can also now get the Platinum card in limited-edition mirror card design), but if anyone spots something that I haven’t picked up upon, please let me know if the comments and I’ll add it to the lists above.
