One of the few benefits of writing for a site like this one is that every now and again banks, PR agencies, hotels, airlines, and loyalty programs present you with information that hasn’t yet been made available to the general public.
Having this information before most people find out about it can be particularly useful when it comes to having an article ready to publish when a big announcement is made, but because the information is always embargoed, the details can never be discussed ahead of the official announcement … and that can be frustrating.
Right now, I find myself in a strange position because I have some information that’s under embargo, but the information relates to something which, I’m told, should be available right now, and to me, that makes the embargo more than a little pointless.
Nevertheless, I’ve never broken an embargo and I’m not about to start now, but I’ve given the PR agency that provided the information a heads up that I’m going to write a teaser and they haven’t told me that I cannot, so here’s what I feel that I can tell you …
- Chase is launching a fantastic new welcome offer on one of its credit cards.
- The welcome offer should be available in branches around the country right now* and, in time, it will be made available online as well. Update: Reddit users have confirmed that the offer is in branches now.
- The new welcome offer applies to a popular consumer credit card (check the comments section!)
- I don’t know what the spending requirement is, but I don’t expect it to be particularly onerous.
*I was told that it would be available from March 23rd but as I’m reasonably sure that Chase branches are not open on Sundays, I assume today will be the first day that it appears.
That’s probably all I should say, but it should be enough to help you decide if it’s worth dropping by your local Chase branch to see if they’re promoting a new welcome offer.
Needless to say, the embargo that I’m working under doesn’t apply to anyone reading this, so if you visit a Chase branch and find out what I’m not allowed to tell you, feel free to let everyone know what it is in the comments! 🙂
I’ll go. It’s been on Reddit for weeks. CSP, 100k points, $4k spend.
And that’s exactly why this embargo is nonsense! Thank you!
Do you know if anyone has seen the offer in branch yet?
Update: The offer has been confirmed on Reddit with a $5k spending requirement.
