Emirates is the biggest supporter of the Airbus A380 in the world…and by quite some distance. Almost 30% of their entire fleet is made up of A380 aircraft (73 in total) while the second placed airline in the A380 stakes, Singapore Airlines, has just 19. So it’s not that surprising to see the Emirates A380 appearing all over the world.

Emirates has recently added A380 aircraft to its Los Angeles and Dallas routes as well as on its routes to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur (albeit temporarily in the latter case). And in late December Emirates announced A380 service to Birmingham (UK), Taipei, Barcelona and Prague. I even just saw one of their Whale Jets in Madrid:

These aircraft really do seem to be everywhere…and that feeling is about to grow.

Düsseldorf To Get All A380 Service

From 1 July 2016 Emirates will replace the Boeing 777-300ER that operates one of Emirates’ two daily Dubai – Düsseldorf with an Airbus A380.

Based on the cabin layout being shown on ExpertFlyer it would appear that Emirates will be employing a 3-Class A380 with 14 First Class seats, 76 Business Class seats and 427 Economy Class seats.

From 1 July 2016 the full Emirates Dubai – Düsseldorf schedule will look like this:

EK057 DXB 14:45 – 19:40 DUS (Daily)

EK056 DUS 15:25 – 23:55 DXB (Daily)
EK058 DUS 21:30 – 06:05+1 day DXB (Daily)

The flights changing aircraft will be EK57/58

Munich To Get All A380 Service

Munich already has 3 non-stop Emirates flights to/from Dubai and two of these are already served by A380 aircraft.

From 1 June 2016 EK53/54 will see an Airbus A380 replace the Boeing 777-300ER that currently operates the flights to give Munich an all-A380 service from Dubai.

The good news for Munich-Dubai passengers is that Emirates has chosen not to use one of their new high-density, 2-class A380s on this route and, instead, gone for the same A380 setup as the aircraft that will be serving Düsseldorf (F14/B76/E427).

From 20 June 2016 the full Emirates Dubai – Munich schedule will look like this:

EK053 DXB 04:00 – 08:35 MUC (Daily)
EK049 DXB 08:50 – 13:15 MUC (Daily)
EK051 DXB16:30 – 20:50 MUC (Daily)

EK054 MUC 10:35 – 18:35 DXB (Daily)
EK050 MUC 15:40 – 23:45 DXB (Daily)
EK052 MUC 22:35 – 06:30+1 day (Daily)

A quick look at ExpertFlyer shows that all 3 of the Emirates A380s serving Munich have First Class cabins….

…so there’s no risk of accidentally booking the high-density variant of the aircraft.

Bottom Line

Emirates is prone to offering good Business Class fares between Europe and Asia (although it’s not as generous as Qatar Airways) and, as their Airbus A380’s tend to have their best premium cabin products, the more of them we see flying to/from Europe the better.

I’m left wondering what Emirates is going to do with all its Boeing 777-300 aircraft. Every time I seem to write a blog post about Emirates adding A380s to routes, it’s 777-300s that are getting the chop. So, are we about to see a glut of second hand Boeings on the market or is Emirates repurposing them on other routes and I just haven’t noticed? Anyone know?
