Considering I registered for this promotion a few weeks ago, I have no idea how an article discussing it hasn’t yet appeared on this site, but better late than never (hopefully).
This is a reminder (for anyone who missed it when it first launched) that the World of Hyatt is currently still offering members the opportunity to earn double points on stays at Hyatt Place and Hyatt House properties around the world.
The promotion
Earn double points for qualifying stays completed by 15 October 2024 at over 550 participating Hyatt Place and Hyatt House properties worldwide. The promotion earnings are capped at 25,000 points.
Key terms
- Register (here) by 11:59 p.m. CT on 15 September 2024 to participate.
- Only Eligible Stays completed after registration and by 15 October 2024 will count towards this promotion.
- Beginning on your first Eligible Stay after registration and during the Promotion Period, you will receive double points per Eligible Stay at participating Hyatt Place and Hyatt House properties.
- A maximum of 25,000 Bonus Points may be earned under this promotion.
- For a property to be participating in the promotion, it needs to be participating in World of Hyatt at the time of the member’s stay.
- All points awarded under this promotion are Bonus Points.
- You will receive five (5) Bonus Points per eligible dollar spent on your Eligible Stay. This is in addition to the five (5) Base Points you would earn as your base earning.
- If a member chooses to earn Bonus Miles, the bonus will be awarded in World of Hyatt Bonus Points.
- For the purpose of this promotion, an “Eligible Stay” is defined as any stay where a member is paying an Eligible Rate or redeems a free night award.
- For purposes of this promotion, consecutive nights at the same hotel constitute one stay (even if you check out and check back in).
- Only the room occupied by the member will count toward this promotion.
- Please allow two to three weeks after checkout for Bonus Points to be posted to your World of Hyatt account.
Full terms and conditions (which you should read carefully) can be found on the promotion page.
Quick thoughts
There’s no shortage of properties at which 2x World of Hyatt points can be earned, so that’s the first bit of good news.
We value Hyatt points at 1.4 cents each (based on the value we know we can get out of them with relative ease) and that means that this promotion is offering us an extra effective rebate of 7% taking the minimum total effective rebate (not including any elite status bonuses) up to 14%.
That’s the second bit of good news.
The third bit of good news is that award nights count for this promotion and while you’re, obviously, not going to be picking up bonus points on your room rate, it’s nice to know that all other spending at a property while you’re on an award stay will earn you double what it normally would.
Yes, it’s a little disappointing that the promotion has an earnings cap of 25,000 bonus points, but as you will need to spend $5,000 at participating properties during the promotion to hit that cap, I suspect that only the road warriors among us are at risk of seeing their earnings capped.
Overall, this is a pretty nice promotion to be offered, and when you add in elite bonuses and earnings from The World of Hyatt Credit Card or World of Hyatt Business Credit Card into the equation (both earn 4 points/dollar on Hyatt spending) the total effective rebate on offer can look quite impressive
A Globalist member paying with a co-branded card could earn 15.5 points/dollar until they hit the promotion cap, and for us that equates to an effective rebate of 21.7% … which we’ll happily take!
Bottom Line
World of Hyatt members can currently earn double points on stays at Hyatt Place and Hyatt House properties around the world. Registration will close on 15 September and only stays completed by 15 October 2024 will count towards the promotion earnings so make sure you take all of that into consideration when making any bookings.
