Citi has been pretty quiet for a few months and the last bonus or added benefit we saw the bank offer holders of the Citi Prestige Card expired at the end of August. Now, however, the bank is back with another small bonus as it tries to keep holders of its premium travel card engaged at a time where travel isn’t an option for most people.

Back in May, Citi announced that the Citi Prestige Card’s $250 annual travel credit could be used to offset spending at supermarkets and restaurants, and in June it announced that holders of the Prestige Card would earn bonus points on up to $7,500 of spending in categories that were more relevant to the situation we’ve all found ourselves in for most of this year.

With the second of those two offers having expired on 31 August, Citi is back with a new offer that sees Prestige Card holders able to earn 5 ThankYou Rewards points (up to a maximum of 7,500 points) for every $1 spent on online, cable, and streaming purchases through the end of 2020.

This offer doesn’t appear to be visible on Citi’s main Prestige Card page but this is information that I’ve received from the PR team so I have no reason to think that it’s anything but true.

Eligible cable and streaming providers that will earn 5 points/dollar cover more than 20 platforms and include providers such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple Music, Disney+, ESPN+, HBO NOW, Netflix, SiriusXM, and Sling TV…but that’s not the big news here.

The big news is that Citi Prestige Card holders will earn 5 points/dollar on all online purchases (up to 7,500 points) and with various holidays coming up as well as Prime Day and the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales, that should be an easy bonus to max-out.

The email I’ve had from the PR team sets the spending cap at 7,500 points and not 7,500 bonus points so that suggests to me that 5 points/dollar is only on offer for up to $1,500 in spending (not $1,875) Update: this has now been confirmed with Citi

Bottom Line

Citi Prestige Card holders can now earn 5 points per dollar (up to a limit of 7,500 points) on all online purchases made through the end of the year as well as on all cable and streaming purchases made by 31 December. As bonuses go this isn’t a big one, but it’s certainly better than nothing and the 7,500 points should be relatively simple to pick up.
