Copenhagen is the city that just keeps on giving [great airfares]!

Hot on the heels of the amazing Business Class airfares between Copenhagen and numerous US cities (I posted about this on Friday) I’ve noticed another great Business Class fare…and this time it’s from BA.

British Airways has a very good 90-day advance purchase fare available, for travel between Copenhagen and Rio de Janeiro, for travel from January through to July 2016.

British Airways Club World to Rio

Strictly speaking this isn’t actually just a “Copenhagen” fare because, while most of the good fares involve a departure from Copenhagen, some involve a departure from Oslo and a few take in Brussels too. Add to that the fact that, on the return, all the best fares go to either Brussels, Oslo or Amsterdam and you can see that this is a bit of a hotch-potch fare.

As always, I found this fare using the ITA Matrix Search (more info via the “useful info” page) but this time you’ll need to use a specific command if you want to save yourself the bother of filtering through a lot of unnecessarily long trips.

British Airways has a lot of flights that price up at around the $1,980 (£1,320/€1,770) mark but, unfortunately, a lot of them are for trips in excess of 30 hours (in one direction!). Luckily I’ve done the boring work for you and I can tell you that you don’t need to look at trips longer than 17 hours to find the best fares.

To avoid having to see all the excessively long flights, use the “maxdur” command when using the ITA Matrix Search. This is how I entered my search parameters:

The “maxdur” command used in this way ensures that ITA Matrix doesn’t show any trips with a duration longer then 1020 minutes (17 hours) – you can change this number to whatever you like but be careful not to filter out all the best fares.

Pricing: From $1,974 (£1,315/€1,760)

Route: Starting CPH or OSL and returning to AMS/BRU/OSL

Travel dates: January – July 2016

Booking: Must book 90 days in advance.

Ok…so it’s not exactly the same price but are we really going to haggle over $6? 🙂

Availability:

Before I show you the availability for January through to July you’re going to have to take my word for something….

The ITA Matrix will show, on the calendar view, that the lowest price available is in excess of $2,000 but, if you drill down to find the actual fares available, you get the lower fares that I’ve mentioned already.

With that, here’s the availability:

The fare I gave as an example earlier in the post was for January so, for anyone who didn’t quite believe that the sub-$2,000 fares are still available later in the year, here are some fares for March (click to enlarge):

And here’s June:

The one downside to these fares is that you have to spend at least 6 nights on the ground in Rio….but then if you’re trying to get away from the European winter would you want to stay away any less?!

If you find any of these fares useful, if you plan on booking one of them or if you’ve found something better, let me know in the comments below (always good to share!)
