Copenhagen is the place to fly from this summer if you’re heading to the US, looking for fantastic value and a lot of comfort. And when I say “fantastic value” I really do mean FANTASTIC value. Some of these Business Class fares are just a few hundred dollars more than the Economy Class fares between the same cities.

It doesn’t even matter which airline you prefer to fly as just about all of them have a great fare on offer. I’ve included examples from British Airways, KLM, Delta, Air Berlin, United and SWISS but that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

As always I used the ITA Matrix search to find these fares so, if you’re new to using the ITA Matrix search tool, the introductory articles you’ll find on my “useful info” page may be of help.

I’ve selected a few of the more popular US cities to show you just what’s available out there but, believe me, there are lots more destinations with great Business Class fares….you just have to do a quick search.

Use the links below to jump to a city you’re interested in visiting.

Chicago

Fares start at an amazing $1,324 (£880/€1,180) and availability is pretty good.

July

CHICAGO-JULY

And there’s plenty of choice of airlines for the bargain hunter….

CHICAGO-JULY-AIRLINES

If you’re careful-ish with what dates you select, you even have a great choice of trip lengths so the fares aren’t exactly restrictive:

CHICAGO-JULY-NIGHTS

I’ve used a KLM flight as an example of what you can get but, as I mentioned in the introduction, pick just about any airline alliance that you like and you’re almost certain to find a good deal (click to enlarge):

Availability in August is looking just as good as July…..

CHICAGO-AUGUST

….and the choice e of airlines doesn’t get any worse either….

CHICAGO-AUGUST-AIRLINES

Los Angeles

Fares start at around $1,972 (£1,315/1,760) – which, while not staggeringly fantastic, is still pretty good.

LAX-July

And there are still a lot of airline/airline alliance choices….

LAX-July-Airlines

And the minimum trip lengths aren’t exactly too constraining either….

lax-july-nights

I’ve used a United/Lufthansa combination to illustrate what’s available but, as you can see from the list of airlines above, there re plenty of other options (click to enlarge):

LAX-July-Flight

August sees more great availability at the $1,972 level….

LAX - August

And the list of airlines offering good fares is just as long….

LAX-August-Airlines

Las Vegas

Fares start from around $1,876 (£1,250/€1,675) and, for anyone who couldn’t find a price they’re happy with on the Los Angeles flights, could provide another alternative (4 hour drive to LA from Vegas).

July availability is plentiful…..

LV-July

And, as with all the examples I’m providing here, there are a lot of airlines to choose from….

LV-July-Airlines

If you pick your dates reasonably carefully you can choose from a variety of trip lengths (other, longer trip lengths available too)….

LV-July-Nights

I’ve used a British Airways example here but there are plenty of Star Alliance and Sky Team flights available too.

Note: Be careful with the British Airways Flights. On the return trip some fares fly in to Gatwick with the onward connection departing from Heathrow…and that’s a connection you don’t want to have to take. There are plenty of good, British Airways, fares out there that don’t require you to route through Gatwick.

LV-July-BA-Flights

August availability continues to be good….

LV-August

And just about every European airline has a good fare….

lv-august-airlines

Miami

Fares start at around $1,700 (£1,130/€1,520) and could provide a good entry point to the Caribbean for anyone who can’t find a decent business class flight to the island of their choice (fly business class to Miami and then add a cheap local flight to the island).

July availability is plentiful….

MIA-JUL

The OneWorld Airlines provide the cheapest fares….although not by much….

MIA-JULY-AIRLINES

Whatever trip length suits you, you should be able to find something that works (just be prepared to be a bit flexible with dates).

MIA-JULY-NIGHTS

I’ve used Swiss as an example because I’ve head great things about their latest Business Class product and it makes a change from my usual suggestions of American/United/BA/Lufthansa/Delta (click to enlarge):

MIA-JULY-SWISS-FLIGHTS

August availability is just as good as in July…..

MIA-AUGUST

And the OneWorld airlines still have the best fares in August…..but both the other Alliances are there or thereabouts too.

MIA-AUGUST-AIRLINES

New York

Fares start at a truly fantastic $1,351 (£900/€1,205) on Air Berlin but Air France, Air Canada, American, KLM & Lufthansa all have fares in the $1,300s so we’re spoiled for choice.

July availability couldn’t be more wide open…..

NYC-JULY

And I’m not really sure what Emirates and SAS are playing out with their fares considering just about everyone else is so much cheaper….

NYC-JULY-AIRLINES

There’s plenty of scope for building a trip of a length that suits you…..

NYC-JULY-FLIGHTS

Here’s an example of the Air Berlin fare…but be aware that the super-short-haul flights between Düsseldorf and Copenhagen would be in Economy. Still, does that really matter?! (click to enlarge):

NYC-AIR-BERLIN-JULY-FLIGHT

August availability is still pretty fantastic…..

NYC-AUGUST

And it’s good to see Emirates and SAS sticking to their guns with their “over double everyone else” fares 🙂

NYC-AUGUST-AIRLINES

San Francisco

My favourite US city (hard for me to say when I lived in LA for so long…but it’s true) has some fantastic Business Class fares available – starting from a stunning $1,433 (£955/€1,280):

SFO-JULY

SkyTeam are the ones to fly with on this route if you’re looking for the cheapest fares around (I’m disappointed that OneWorld aren’t matching here as I’d jump on this fare if it was available on American).

SFO - JULY-AIRLINES

One again there is a lot of choice when it comes to trip length…..

SFO-JULY-NIGHTS

I’ve used Delta and an example in this case because they’re one of the super-cheap options….but also to show that I’m not entirely OneWorld-biased 🙂 (click to enlarge):

sfo-delta-july

August fares are just as good as July fares…..

sfo-august

….and SkyTeam are still the ones to beat on this route in August.

sfo-august-airlines

So that’s the end of my round-up of the great Business Class fares out of Copenhagen (I’m thinking of moving there!).

Like I said a the very start, this is just a taster of what’s available….I know for a fact that there are equally great fares available to cities like Seattle, Boston and Orlando. So, if I didn’t post something that entices you, have a search around and you may find something  that does.

Have you booked any of these fares? Have you found something even better? Let me know in the comments.
