The Points Guy secured an interview with British Airways CEO Alex Cruz and sat down to talk to him about all things BA. Kudos to TPG for getting this interview and for getting a few bits of information out of the BA boss.

  • Decision on new Business Class seats expected in the 1st half of 2017
  • First WiFi enabled aircraft will fly in January 2017
  • First Class is not being mothballed
  • The ability to use Avios to pay for things like seat selection is being considered.

There’s quite a bit more too including a good discussion on Avios and you should probably see what he says about the direction he sees the British Airways Executive Club going (at 24:10 on the video).

I would have liked to see Cruz grilled a bit more on the cheapening of the British Airways product, the pathetic premium offering on short haul and the current strike ballot…but I think TPG did a pretty good job overall.
