Aeromexico’s first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner has been delivered and the airline has been keen to show of some of the aircrafts new features – like a serve-yourself bar, ergonomic seats and touchscreen TVs.
This is the first of ten 787-9 Dreamliners that Aeromexico has ordered and will join the nine 787-8 Dreamliners already flying on Aeromexico’s routes.
The new, longer, Dreamliner features a 2-cabin configuration with 36 lie-flat Business Class seats and 238 Economy Class seats for a total capacity of 274. For comparison this is how it stacks up against some of the 787-9s flying with other airlines:
- British Airways – 216 seats
- Etihad – 231 seats
- United – 252 seats
- Virgin Atlantic – 264 seats
- Aeromexico – 274 seats
- American – 285 seats
- KLM – 294 seats
So the cabins are pretty tightly packed compared to a few of the other 787-9 operators.
The Business Class cabin is set out in a 1-2-1 layout which gives each seat direct aisle access….

The Business Class cabin has 18″ touchscreens (2″ larger than on the 787-8 Dreamliner) and offer 2 live TV channels on top of the usual movies, tv shows, music, games etc…
Importantly, the new Aeromexico Dreamliner also has in-flight WiFi throughout the aircraft.

The Business Class seats are arranged in a reverse herringbone formation and are not too dissimilar to what Air France offers in its 777 Business Class cabin.
The stand out addition to the Business Class cabin is a walk-up bar which offers snacks and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) throughout the flight.

The Economy Class cabin features 238 “ergonomic seats” with individual 11-inch touchscreens (also 2″ larger than what the airline offers on its other aircraft) offering variety of movies, TV shows, music and a seat-to-seat chat system.
Aeromexico 787-9 Economy Class
I haven’t seen any dimensions for the seats in Economy Class but, based on the density of the seating, I don’t expect the cabin to be spacious.
9-across seating on a Dreamliner usually means seats that are 17″ – 17.5″ wide and with a cabin of 238 I wouldn’t expect more than 31″ of seat pitch (leg room).
If you’re looking to try out Aeromexico’s new Dreamliner it will be appearing across the airline’s route network in the coming weeks with trips to Amsterdam, London, Madrid, New York, Paris, Santiago, Shanghai, and Tokyo.
