The IHG Autumn/Fall sale for bookings at the chain’s properties in Europe and very select properties in Asia, the Maldives, Australia, and French Polynesia, is now live and runs through to 4 October for stays through March 2025.

The discount available to you in this sale will depend on the way you book your stay with bookings made through the IHG app qualifying for a slightly bigger discount than bookings made through the desktop site.

Key terms

IHG properties excluding Iberostar Beachfront Resorts

• Valid only for selected bookings made from 17 September – 4 October 2024.
• This promotion is valid for stays between 26 September 2024 and 31 March 2025.
• The Offer provides a public rate discount at participating hotels of a minimum of 15% off the Best Flex Rate, when using the Book Early and Save rate.
• IHG One Rewards members save an additional 5% off the public Book Early and Save rate when booking on web and 10% off the public rate when booking via the IHG One Rewards App.
• You must be a member at the time of the booking to qualify for the additional discount.
• The Best Flex rate is an unrestricted, non-qualified, non-discount rate.
• Bookings on the Book Early and Save rate in this Offer must be made at least three days in advance of arrival.
• The Book Early and Save rate is non-refundable, with full payment for the full stay due at time of booking.
• No changes or cancellations can be made.

Iberostar Beachfront Resorts

• Participating Iberostar Beachfront Resorts are offering IHG One Rewards members 19% off the public Pay Later rate, and bookings by members can be changed or cancelled 4 or more days prior to your scheduled arrival/check-in date at the hotel with the Pay Later rate.
• If an IHG One Rewards member cancels their booking under this Offer less than 4 days before the scheduled arrival/check-in date or does not arrive at the hotel on the scheduled arrival/check-in date, an amount of 1 night will be charged.
• Guests booking the Offer at participating Iberostar Beachfront Resorts who are not IHG One Rewards members at the time of making the booking are also eligible to save 19% off the Pay Later with the Iberostar Beachfront Resorts ‘Pay Now’ rates.
• Pay Now rate bookings from non-members under this Offer must be made at least 4 – 30 days in advance of arrival and are non-refundable and cannot be changed, with full payment for the entire stay to be made at time of booking. If you do not arrive at your hotel to check-in on your arrival date, your booking will be canceled, and you will not receive a refund.
• Stay Dates at participating Iberostar Beachfront Resorts are between 26 September 2024 until 31 March 2025.

Quick thoughts

There are two key things to recognize here:

Firstly, the discounts on offer are based on the best flexible rate which is often not the cheapest rate that IHG publishes and that means that the savings of up to 25% will not always apply.

Secondly, even though the sale prices are based on a discounted version of the best flexible rate, bookings at all the properties included in this sale (excluding the Iberostar Resorts) are not flexible at all.

In fact, a deposit equalling the full cost of the stay will be required at the time of booking, so this isn’t a sale suited to anyone whose plans are not firmed up.

At the time of writing, IHG doesn’t yet appear to have populated its search engine with the necessary discount codes to trigger the sale pricing (I have no idea why), so I can’t comment on how good or bad the deals on offer are.

Once the prices are live (and I have a free moment) I’ll post an update showing what I’ve found – hopefully we’ll see some decent rates at properties like the InterContinental London O2 (review), the InterContinental Paris Le Grand, the InterContinental Vienna, and the InterContinental Barcelona, as these are properties that have offered good deals in the other recent sales.

Bottom line

IHG is currently running an Autumn sale for stays in Europe and at a limited number of properties in Asia, Australia and French Polynesia in which it’s offering IHG One Rewards members up to 25% off the best flexible rates for bookings made by 4 October 2024 and completed between 26 September 2024 and 31 March 2025.
