Quick thoughts

It’s a shame that this is limited to departures from the US but this is still a pretty good offer to be targeted for.

$1,000 isn’t much to spend on air travel (if you’re a family or booking a premium cabin) and when you add in the fact that the spending requirement doesn’t have to be met in a single transaction and that you only have to book and pay (not fly) by 6/30/24, this becomes an offer that should be relatively easy to use.

As I’m seeing this offer on every Amex card that I hold (business and consumer), this is clearly not an offer that’s being narrowly targeted, and as this includes card_name (review), a lot of readers should be able to paid the $200 saving with the 5 points/dollar that card_name offers on up to $500,000 of spending made directly with airlines or flights booked through Amex Travel (1 point/dollar thereafter – terms apply).

That would be a haul of at least 5,000 points which I value at $75.

Bottom line

American Express is now targeting select cardholders for a saving of up to 20% off bookings made with Air France and KLM. Make sure you read the terms and conditions of the offer carefully before you book (not all spending with the airlines will qualify to trigger the credit) and make sure you book using the US versions of the Air France/KLM website.
