Priority Pass has been running its Black Friday promotion for a week now and today is the last day to make the most of what’s usually the biggest discount on membership that we see. Through 11:59 ET Priority Pass is offering between 25% and 40% off its regular membership rates and, if you don’t have Priority pass through a premium credit card, this could be worth a look.

Up To 40% Off Priority Pass Membership

This Priority Pass Black Friday promotion offers 40% off the standard membership and 25% off both the “standard plus” and “prestige” memberships.

Here’s a direct link to the promotion page

  • Standard – Member pays $27/visit & guest pays $27/visit
  • Standard Plus – Member gets 10 free visits then pays $27/visit & guest pays $27/visit
  • Prestige – Member gets unlimited free visits & guest pays $27/visit

The promotion ends tonight (1 December 2017)

Priority Pass membership comes as one of the benefits of the American Express Platinum card, the Citi Prestige Card and the Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card but, as all of those come with annual fees of between $450 and $550, a stand-alone Priority Pass membership may be more economical for some.

What Is Priority Pass?

Priority Pass is the world’s largest independent airport lounge program that gives members access to a large worldwide network of airport lounges for a fee.

Priority Pass members get access to over 1,000 lounges in over 130 countries and 500 cities – so there’s a very good chance that there’s a Priority Pass lounge in an airport near you.

I’ve written in detail about the Priority Pass program here so that may be a good starting point for you if you’d like to know more.

Is Priority Pass Membership For You?

Even if you have airlines status there will be times when Priority Pass can come in very useful….usually in one of three situations:

  • Your airline of choice doesn’t have a club/lounge at an airport you’re visiting (I find this happens a lot in regions like the Caribbean)
  • You’re not flying with the airline with which you have status
  • You’re flying as a family and your airline status doesn’t get all of you into the airline’s lounge.

The best way to check if Priority Pass membership would be something that you would use is to consider which airports you travel through most often and then check those airports against the list of available Priority Pass lounges via this link.

If you  pass through an airport (or airports) where Priority Pass has a presence with any frequency then Priority Pass membership may well be something that will benefit you….just be sure to check that the math works in your favor (i.e work out how often you’ll visit and how much PP membership would therefore cost you per visit)

If you’re not a frequent traveler then a lounge membership scheme like Priority Pass is probably not an economical use of your cash but, if you travel often, access to a lounge can be a good way to start a vacation or, at the very least, it can be a comfortable (and relatively quiet) place to get some work done while you wait for your flight.

Lastly, winter is here and that means snow and storms are soon going to be causing chaos with flights in large parts of the US. Having been through quite a few long delays courtesy of such storms I can say that having access to a lounge will make a big difference when you have hours to kill before your flight.

  1. Priority Pass sub a meal/drink allowance at a pair of Pasta House Restaurant at STL airport. So if you are in either terminal and flying out, its $28 of so-so Italian food. Back in the 1970’s, friends and I would visit a local Pasta House for the Monday evening $6.25 all you eat and bottle Bud @$2.
