The Priority Pass Black Friday/Cyber Monday promotion has been running for nine days now and it ends tomorrow, Friday 30 November.

I suspect that a sizeable majority of readers will have Priority Pass membership courtesy of a credit card like the Chase Sapphire Reserve or a charge card like the Platinum Card from American Express but, if you don’t have such a card and if you don’t like paying over $400/year for a credit card, this is probably your last chance fora while (possibly a year) to get as large a discount as this on Priority Pass memberships.

As a recap here’s what the Priority Pass Black Friday deals look like:

Priority Pass Black Friday 2018 Promotion – USA

This year the Priority Pass Black Friday promotion offers 40% off the standard membership and 25% off both “Standard Plus” and “Prestige” memberships.

  • Standard Membership – The Priority Pass member pays $32/visit & guest pays $32/visit
  • Standard Plus Membership – The Priority Pass member gets 10 free visits and then pays $32/visit & guest pays $32/visit
  • Prestige Membership – The Priority Pass member gets unlimited free visits & guest pays $32/visit

Priority Pass Black Friday 2018 Promotion – UK

The percentage discounts on offer in the UK promotion match those of the US Black Friday sale but the actual membership prices are a little cheaper right now.

Here’s a direct link to the UK Priority Pass Black Friday promotion page

  • Standard Membership – The Priority Pass member pays £20/visit & guest pays £20/visit
  • Standard Plus Membership – The Priority Pass member gets 10 free visits and then pays £20/visit & guest pays £20/visit
  • Prestige Membership – The Priority Pass member gets unlimited free visits & guest pays £20/visit

If you assume that the USD/UK exchange rate is around 1.30 you’ll find that the UK prices offer better value at the Standard and Standard Plus membership levels.

What Is Priority Pass?

Priority Pass is the world’s largest independent airport lounge program that gives members access to a large worldwide network of airport lounges for a fee.

Priority Pass members get access to over 1,200 lounges in over 140 countries and 500 cities – so there’s a very good chance that there’s a Priority Pass lounge in an airport near you.

Priority Pass membership is a good way for flyers to enjoy a little bit of comfort at the airport without having to pay paying for a premium cabin and without having to fly tens of thousands of miles a year for airline status.

I’ve written in detail about the Priority Pass program here so that may be a good starting point for you if you’d like to know more.

Is Priority Pass Membership For You? It May Not Be

Even if you have airline status there will be times when Priority Pass can come in very useful….usually in one of three situations:

  • Your airline of choice doesn’t have a club/lounge at an airport you’re visiting (I find this happens a lot in regions like the Caribbean)
  • You’re not flying with the airline with which you have status
  • You’re flying as a family and your airline status doesn’t get all of you into the airline’s lounge.

I have top-tier airline status with American Airlines and British Airways and Priority Pass still comes in very useful on occasions

Plaza Premium Lounge Kuala Lumpur (a Priority Pass Lounge)

Despite having great oneworld status I still get a lot of use out of my Priority Pass membership…primarily when I’m flying with both Joanna and MJ.

When we’re all traveling together in Economy Class I can’t get all three of us in to the regular airline lounges with my status (I can only guest one other person) but that isn’t an issue with Priority Pass lounges.

Airports like Heathrow have a good number of good Priority Pass lounges so, using my membership, Joanna, MJ and I still get to have a bit of comfort before our flights when traveling as a family despite not having access to the lounges that the oneworld carriers offer.

But that’s just how things work for me – your situation may be different.

The best way to work out if Priority Pass membership would be something you should consider is to check which airports you travel through most often and then check to see how many Priority Pass lounges would be open to you – here’s a link to the list of available lounges.

If you regularly pass through an airport (or airports) where Priority Pass has a presence then this Priority Pass Black Friday deal may be for you….just be sure to check that the math works in your favor.

If you’re not a regular traveler then membership of a lounge program is probably not for you but, if you travel with any frequency, access to a lounge can be a very nice place to start a vacation or to get some work done before a flight.

If you don’t have a credit card that offers you Priority Pass membership then this sale may be worth considering.
