IHG PointBreaks List Revealed – Summer 2015

IHG Rewards Club has released its “Point Break” list of hotels for the summer season.

“Point Breaks” are one of the better hotel promotions that you’ll find with IHG releasing rooms at a number of its hotels for just 5,000 points per night – these are rooms that could go for as much as 40,000 points per night outside of the promotional period.

If you’re new to Point Breaks you may, at this point, be getting pretty excited at the thought of spending two weeks on a beach in Bali (or somewhere equally exotic) for very little points outlay – well, just hold up for a moment and put the sunblock down. The big, impressive (and therefore high demand) IHG hotels very rarely appear on the Point Break list so you’re unlikely to be going to Tahiti for 5,000 points per night.

Having said that, there is still good value to be had out of some of these hotels – especially if a hotel on the list happens to be somewhere you were planning to visit anyway. That’s when this promotion comes into its own.

The booking period for this promotion opens on 26 May.

One restriction that you should know about is that you can only make 2 reservations per hotel during the offer period. This is a relatively new rule brought in by IHG to try to stop people making dozens of speculative bookings until their plans firm up and then cancelling all the ones they no longer wanted (and denying other IHG rewards members the rooms into the bargain).
