Ebates (Rakuten) is celebrating ‘twenty years of savvy shopping’ with a huge promotion in which it’s currently offering 15% cash back at over 400 of its partners. Within that list of partners sits IHG so, if you’re looking to book a stay at brands like InterContinental, Crowne Plaza or Holiday Inn (amongst others) today may be a good day to do just that.
If you’ve recently joined Ebates you’re also likely to be eligible to earn 15 Amex Membership Rewards Points per dollar spent in this promotion (in place of the cashback).
IHG Cash Back Terms & Conditions
- Cash Back will be added to your Rakuten account within six weeks after travel has been completed.
- Exclusions: Cash Back is only available for commissionable IHG rates. Specially negotiated rates such as IHG friends & Family are not eligible for Cash Back. Rooms booked and paid for by IHG reward Club Points are not eligible for cash back incentives.
- Special Terms: Changes made to the reservation at the hotel will void Cash Back.
Importantly (and as usual) not all IHG brands appear to be participating – here are the ones which are specifically mentioned as participating in this promotion:
Brands which are part of IHG but do not appear in the list above include the following:
- Kimpton
- Voco
- Hualuxe
- Avid
As I’ve suggested before, these 4 brands are not specifically excluded from the cash back offer in any of the terms and conditions offered up by Ebates so, technically, it’s possible that a Kimpton booking (for example) will qualify for cash back if you click through the IHG link rather than a link for one of the specific brands – Kimpton is part of IHG so why shouldn’t it qualify if it’s not excluded in the T&Cs?
A Nice Added Bonus
Clicking through the Ebates portal simply redirects you to the IHG website (or the specific brand website you may have selected) so any bookings made will be made directly with IHG.
This means that IHG Rewards credit cards will earn bonus points (for booking with IHG) and guests will be entitled to all their standard elite benefits when they stay.
Guests will also earn full elite night credits and IHG Rewards Points on all reservations made after clicking through the Ebates portal as the bookings are not being made through a 3rd party.
Bottom Line
There’s no official end date posted for this deal but it’s safe to assume it won’t be around for long and I’ll be surprised if it’s still available this time tomorrow so don’t procrastinate if you have a booking you need to make – this is a very good deal.
