Apparently, it has been a year since Qatar Airways introduced its ‘Student Club’ to the world and in celebration of the Student Club’s first anniversary, Qatar Airways has launched a flash deal in which members of the club can get up to 40% off select Qatar Airways fares.

In brief, this is what you need to know about the Qatar Airways Student Club:

Membership is open to persons who are studying for a Degree and have joined a recognized higher education provider (university or college) and are between the ages of 18 and 30. Students from around the world are invited to join the Student Club so this is not restricted to a limited number of countries.

The key benefits to the Qatar Airways student club are:

• Promotional discounts:
  • 10% off first booking
  • 15% off second booking
  • 20% off third booking
• An extra baggage allowance for entry-level (Burgundy) Privilege Club members
• Complimentary ‘Super Wi-Fi’ onboard Qatar Airlines flights
• A 1 Tier upgrade in the Privilege Club upon graduation (terms apply)
• One free date change
• A companion pass that allows a member to share some of their Student Club benefits with up to 3 other people (over 18s only but companions do not have to be students)
• Members and their companions can both enjoy the promotional discounts offered by the Student Club (companions must be traveling with the Student Club member).

The promotion

In celebration of Student Club’s first anniversary, Student Club members and their chosen companions can now get up to 40% off select Qatar Airways fares when booking by 18 November 2021, for travel by 30 September 2022.

Essentially, Qatar Airways is doubling the discounts offered to Student Club members for their first, second, and third bookings.

Key Terms

• Campaign Period: 16 November 2021 until 18 November 2021.
• Travel Period: 16 November 2021 until 30 September 2022.
• Blackout Period: 10 December 2021 until 10 January 2022.
• Registration to the Qatar Airways Student Club is mandatory to avail of the offer.
• The fare discount is valid only when using the promo code by booking online via qatarairways.com or the Qatar Airways app, and only whilst travelling on Qatar Airways operated or marketed flights.
• All fare discounts are only valid for bookings made with the unique promo code received after enrollment and/or first flight and/or second flight via email to the Student Member’s registered email address.
• The flight promo code is applicable in Economy Class (on Convenience and Comfort) and Business Class (on Comfort and Elite) and:
  • The fare discount for the promo code received after enrollment for the first ticket will be 20% (twenty percent) off the published fare.
  • The fare discount for the promo code received after the first flight for the second ticket will be 30% (thirty percent) off the published fare; and
  • The fare discount for the promo code received after the second flight and for the third ticket will be 40% (forty percent) off the published fare.
• The special fare will be marked with a burgundy coupon in the flight selection page along with the wording ‘Promo code has been successfully applied’.
• Offer not valid for flights originating from Doha (DOH)

Quick thoughts

If you’re not a member of the Qatar Airways Student Club and you’re eligible to join you can do so via this link and you will be issued with your first promo code immediately. If you’re already a member you should already have a promo code to use.

The key things to note about this promotion are as follows:

• The promotion isn’t valid on travel originating in Doha but there’s no restriction on using this deal for flights to Doha.
• The discounts offered in this promotion are available on Economy Class and Business Class bookings but only when ‘Classic’ or ‘Comfort’ fares are purchased – ‘Lite’ fares are excluded

• This promotion can be used for a Student Club member and up to three companions so up to four people can enjoy up to 40% off a single booking.
• You only have today and tomorrow to make your booking if you want to save 20%/30%/40% off your fare.

Overall, this is a very nice promotion to see published, and as I suspect that most students reading this aren’t yet members of the Qatar Airways Student Club, it should mean that quite a few people reading this post should be eligible for at least 20% off an eligible Qatar Airways booking made in the next two days.

I guess it’s a shame that Lite fares aren’t included in this promotion because a 20% – 40% discount on some of the excellent Qatar Airways Business Class Lite fares available out of Europe would probably have made them cheaper than a lot of the Economy Class fares offered by other airlines on similar routes (and that would have been amusing).

Still, even though Lite fares cannot be discounted by this promotion, anyone using one of these discount codes should still be able to book a great deal if they try hard enough, and that’s the important thing here.

Bottom Line

Qatar Airways is running a flash deal in which it is doubling the discounts it offers to members of the Qatar Airways Student Club when they book their first, second, or third trip with the airline. Bookings have to be made by 18 November 2021 and the travel period covered by this promotion extends to 20 September 2022.
