Since July 15, Chase Marriott Bonvoy credit cards (including credit cards that are no longer available to new applicants) have been offering bonus points for spending on dining and at gas stations and although this promotion was scheduled to end in a little over a week’s time, it looks as if Chase has extended the offer without actually telling anyone.

The Bonuses & The Extension
Holders of all Chase credit cards affiliated to the Marriott Bonvoy program can earn 10 Bonvoy points/dollar when using their card(s) for spending at gas stations or when paying for dining. Activation is required for each card via this dedicated Chase webpage (by 15 September 2020).
When I first registered for the offer this was the confirmatory message I received:
Now when I attempt to register my credit card (not something that is necessary if you have already registered) this is the message I get:
At some point in the past week, Chase has extended the promotion to run through 30 September so Chase Bonvoy card holders now have an extra 15 days to make sure they maximize the earnings on offer.

The Value
I value Marriott Bonvoy Points at 0.6 cents each so the 10 points/dollar that this promotion is offering on dining and at gas stations is equivalent to a 6% rebate. That’s pretty good as it’s a rebate that, by my valuations, can only be beaten by the Citi Prestige Card which offers 5 points/dollar on dining (which I value at 7.5%). I cannot think of another credit card that offers a rebate higher than 6% on dining or at gas stations.
Since this promotion went live, I’ve been using my Ritz-Carlton credit card every time I’ve eaten out or ordered takeaway and I’ve even used it the limited number of times I’ve had to buy gas so I’m very pleased to see the promotion extended.
If you happen to have the Citi Prestige card or the American Express Gold Card (which offers 4 points/dollar on dining) a Marriott Bonvoy card may not be your best option for dining expenditure, but you’re unlikely to find a credit card that offers a better return at gas stations.
Note: Don’t forget that the 10 points/dollar is only being offered on up to $3,500 in total spending (across both shopping categories)
Bottom Line
Chase has quietly extended the expiration date on its Marriott Bonvoy credit card promotion so cardholders who have already registered for the promotion (or who register by 15 September) can continue to earn 10 points/dollar at gas stations and on dining through the end of this month.
