British Airways has launched a “Love Is In The Air” Valentine’s Day sale in which the airline is offering discounts on Club Europe and Club World fares (on select routes) when two fares are purchased together. If you’re single this may be a good excuse to put yourself out there and find that someone special 🙂

Headline Terms

  • Book by Friday 14 February 2020
  • Travel on select dates throughout 2020 in Club Europe (short-haul business class) or Club World (long haul business class).
  • Fares must be purchased in multiples of 2 to access these deals.

The Fares

British Airways hasn’t exactly been generous with the number of routes you’ll find in this sale, the travel dates can be very restricting and some of the prices aren’t particularly tempting…but I guess it’s better than nothing!

Quick Thoughts

If you’re one of the many readers who are more than happy to take positioning flights to Europe in the quest for good value Business Class fares then most of the Club World fares won’t be of any interest – the fares to South Africa, in particular, are a little ridiculous.

It’s also worth pointing out that even if you prefer to start and end your journeys in the UK we often see better Business Class deals in BA’s sales (e.g Club World to NYC or Boston is often on sale for under £1,400pp). The added bonus of the sale fares is that you don’t have to find a companion to travel with and the travel dates are usually a lot less restrictive.

The better deals in this offer (assuming you can make the travel dates work for you) are the short-haul deals to Bergamo, Porto, and Nice….and, at a stretch, Barcelona. All will earn 80 Tier Points (in total) and so may offer an economical way to push you closer to the status level you’re targeting.

Bottom Line

For a sale that’s as restrictive as this one British Airways sure has been more than a little mean with its pricing. There’s more than a little whiff of “its Valentine’s Day so people are more likely to overpay” about some of these fares so make sure you’re aware what everyday pricing (and sale pricing) looks like before you assume that any of these deals are a good idea.

On select routes, some will find value here (especially in Club Europe) but unless you really need to book a trip now I recommend waiting for the next sale – it will almost certainly offer better deals.
