British Airways has signalled it’s intent to further expand its operations between London Heathrow and Las Vegas for the 2016 summer season.

British Airways already planned to increase its Heathrow-Las Vegas service from 7 flights/week to 10 flights/week from 27 March 2016 (and that plan remains in place) but now it’s adding one more flight.

From 2 May 2016 British Airways will add a further flight on Mondays taking the number of flights on the Heathrow-Las Vegas route to 11 per week. The additional flight will be BA271/270 and the new, complete British Airways schedule between Heathrow and Las Vegas will look like this:

BA271 LHR 12:30 – 15:10 LAS (Mon, Thur, Fri, Sun)
BA275 LHR 16:50 – 19:20 LAS (Daily)

BA270 LAS 17:15 – 11:15+1 day LHR (Mon, Thur, Fri, Sun)
BA274 LAS 21:25 – 15:25+1 day LHR (Daily)

All flights will be served by Boeing 747 aircraft.

I’d love to be able to report that this extra flight has opened up some great award inventory but, despite the fact that the flights are there to be booked with cash….

…sadly, either British Airways haven’t loaded the awards for the new flights or they’re being stubbornly stingy – there isn’t a date with 2 open business class seat anywhere in the summer calendar.

British Airways Cancels Gatwick – Las Vegas

It would seem that, what British Airways gives with one hand, it takes with the other.

AirlineRoute.net is reporting that British Airways is ending its 3 x weekly service between London Gatwick and Las Vegas. The last flight is scheduled for 25 April 2016 and, after that, all British Airway departures to Las Vegas will be from London Heathrow.

Presumably, as we’re well within the booking window, there will be customers who are booked on Gatwick-Las Vegas flights that will no longer be taking place. If you have such a reservation you should be getting an email from British Airways any day now (if you haven’t already) but, if you haven’t, this isn’t the time to be British (reserved) about things. Pick up the phone and call British Airways customer services and get yourself rebooked onto flights that suit you best.

The problem with not being proactive is that, if you wait for British Airways to get in touch with you, they may have already rebooked you on a flight that isn’t right for you. And you could then find yourself with limited options thanks to everyone who picked up the phone and called in.
