I’m in the very lucky position of being able to hold both US and UK credit cards so I get to make the most of offers on both sides of the pond. If I’m being truthful, almost all the best offers come thanks to my US credit cards – the UK credit card market is, comparatively, very stingy with their offers. But every now and again something good will pop up in the UK.

American Express UK

American Express has been seeing out emails over the past 24 hours offering card holders a pretty good deal for purchases at the Apple Store (either online or at a UK retail Apple store). The offer is quite simple: Spend £500 or more (using a registered Amex card) and get a £50 statement credit from Amex.

American Express UK

The offer doesn’t appear on the Card Member Offers page nor on the American Express Connect website because it’s meant to be a targeted promotion.

The email I received says: “You are only eligible for this Offer if you receive an email invitation from American Express“…..but that doesn’t necessarily mean much. There have been other such promotions by Amex, with similar wording, that have allowed people who didn’t get targeted to register and successfully get the statement credit….so you never know.

If you haven’t received the email have a dig around in your junk/spam folders to see if it’s disappeared into there. If you don’t strike lucky with that you’re welcome to try the link I was sent – HERE.

There’s absolutely no guarantee that the link will work for you – but I can’t see any downside to trying. As you can see from the image above, the offer doesn’t last long (10 August – 10 September) so I wouldn’t hang around too long before trying to register.

The offer doesn’t appear to be limited to Amex issued Amex cards – As well as my Amex SPG card I also registered my Amex branded MBNA card using the link I was sent and that returned a “registration successful message” just like the SPG card did.

Note: Even after registering for the offer using my Amex SPG card, it still doesn’t appear in my Amex online account…..at least not yet.

You can register as many Amex cards as you like as the T&Cs say “Offer is limited to one credit per Card” and doesn’t mention anything about being limited to one per person/cardholder.

Full terms and conditions for the offer can be found here.
