If my cards are anything to go by, the past few months have seen Chase focusing heavily on offers on stays for Marriott properties with little or no offers appearing for stays made with Hyatt. Well, that has now changed with select cardholders being targeted for a Hyatt Place offer.

The offer

Earn 10% cash back on your Hyatt Place stay, when you spend $100 or more, with a $40.00 cash back maximum.

  • Offer expires 8 November 2024
  • Offer valid one time only.
  • Complete payment for your stay must be made by 8 November.
  • Offer only valid at Hyatt Place properties.
  • Offer only valid on purchases made directly with the merchant.
  • Offer not valid on purchases made using third-party services, delivery services, or a third-party payment account (e.g., buy now pay later).

Full terms can be found on your targeted offer.

Quick thoughts

There are two bits of good news here

The first one is that this offer doesn’t mention any geographical limits so the discount should be triggered by spending made at Hyatt Place worldwide.

The second one is that is that if I’ve been targeted for these offers it’s probably safe to assume that a lot of other Chase cardholders have been targeted for these offers as well, and while I’m only seeing the offer targeted to two of my cards, others may be more fortunate.

Ideally, you’ll open up your Chase online account and find the 10% offer targeted to your World of Hyatt Credit Card or the World of Hyatt Business Credit Card (both of which will earn you 4 WoH points/dollar for any spending you make with Hyatt), but if you have the offer targeted to any of these cards, you’ll still be doing ok:

  • Chase Sapphire Reserve® (3 Ultimate Rewards Points/dollar)
  • Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card (3 Ultimate Rewards Points/dollar)*
  • Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card (2 Ultimate Rewards Points/dollar)

*This card earns 3 points/dollar on the first $150,000 spent in combined purchases on travel, shipping purchases, Internet, cable, and phone services, and on advertising purchases made with social media sites and search engines each account anniversary year.

In my case, only my Chase Sapphire Preferred® card, and my equivalent of the Ink Business Cash® card appear to have been targeted, so I’ll be using the offer on my Sapphire Card first to make sure I lock in the bonus points that card offers.

Don’t forget that the rebate on this offer is capped so in order to maximize your percentage return, you only need to spend $400.

Someone who needs to spend more than that on one stay and who is seeing this offer on more than one credit card could try to split their bill between their targeted cards at check out – some properties may allow this while others may not.

Bottom line

Chase is targeting selected cardholders for a 10% saving deal (capped at $40) that should be of use to anyone planning to pay for a Hyatt Place stay by 8 November 2024. It’s possible that some cardholders will have this offer targeted to multiple credit cards so make sure you check which one(s) will give you the best return before you decide which to use at checkout.
