Lufthansa has extended it’s relationship with Porsche and Avis to allow passengers travelling in first class at Munich Airport to rent a 911 or Panamera before their flight.

Fly Lufthansa Rent a Porsche

Lufthansa has used it’s partnership with the German car manufacturer to ferry first class passenger from its first class terminal at Frankfurt to their waiting aircraft for a number of years and they’ve had the rent-a-Porsche option at Frankfurt for a while too. But now the option will be available to passengers at Munich too.

Who can use this benefit?

The rental experience is available for all Lufthansa, Swiss or Austrian Airlines passengers, Lufthansa HON Circle members or Lufthansa Private Jet guests who possess a valid First Class boarding ticket for that day. Other requirements include having 2 credit cards, being 25 years of age or older and having had your driving licence for over 3 years.

How does it work?

Per the press release – The Lufthansa First Class Personal Assistant accepts reservations in the First Class Lounge and arranges the car rental. Passengers can book their sports car online before the flight, or make a spontaneous on-the-spot decision as long as the chosen offer is available.

If it’s anything like the Frankfurt option there will be some recommended routes that passengers can follow, all of which start and end at the airport. You simply pick your car up at the airport, go on your drive (making sure you’re back in time for your flight!) band then bring it back when you’re finished.

How long can you have the car for?

The offer is for a 3-hour rental

How much does it cost?

The 3-hour rental costs €99.10 which includes fuel, insurance and a distance limit of 150km (93 miles). For every kilometre past 150km there is a surcharge of €0.99.

Overall this has got to be one of the best ways to kill time before a flight. I admit that I’m a bit biased as I absolutely adore the 911 but I challenge anyone to come up with a better airline offer than this one – replies in the comments section please.
