A round up of some of the recent airline route news that’s been announced:

Aer Lingus Announces Hartford (CT) Flight Schedule

Aer Lingus may have recently been taken over by IAG (British Airways’ parent) but that doesn’t appear to have stopped their expansion plans.

Back in October Aer Lingus announced that it would recommence flights between Dublin and Los Angeles from 4 May 2016 (5 per week) and suggested that it would be launching routes to Newark and Hartford from September next year. Well, we now have a schedule for the Aer Lingus flights between Dublin and Hartford:

The route will run 4 times a week and will be served by Aer Lingus’ Boeing 757 Aircraft.

EI131 DUB 14:40 – 16:40 BDL (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun)
EI132 BDL 18:10 – 05:20+1 day DUB (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun)

The first flight is scheduled for 28 September 2016

As you can use Avios for flights on Aer Lingus this could be a good option for UK based flyers wanting to fly to the East Coast. As long as you depart from Dublin the surcharges and taxes are considerably lower than what you’d pay on British Airways so it can make sense to take a short-hop flight across to Ireland and start your trans-Atlantic journey from there.

Lufthansa Cancels Dusseldorf – Chicago Route (Summer 2016)

In June of this year Lufthansa announced that it would be cancelling its winter service between Dusseldorf and Chicago and now it looks like it’s giving up on the route altogether.

Lufthansa was expected to resume flights between the two cities on 27 March 2016 using it’s Airbus A340-300 aircraft but, per the latest schedule update from the airline, the route is now gone.

So, if you we’re booked on either of the following flights…..

LH436 DUS 12:45 – 15:00 ORD
LH437 ORD 17:30 – 08:50+1 day DUS

…and if you haven’t heard from Lufthansa, I’d pick up the phone and get yourself rebooked on the next best option asap.

Lufthansa Resumes Munich to Denver Service After 8 Year Absence

While Lufthansa appears to be dropping one of it’s Chicago routes like a hot potato it has reaffirmed its commitment to Denver. The airline has announced that it will be resuming its Munich – Denver flights from 11 May 2016 after a near eight year hiatus (the route was last flown in October 2008)

The route will run 5 x per week and will be served by Lufthansa’s A330-300 aircraft.

LH480 MUC 11:45 – 14:30 DEN (Tue, Wed, Fri, Sat Sun)

The Lufthansa A330-300 offers the full four classes of service including 21 premium economy seats.
