Postings have been rather thin on the ground in the past couple of months (apologies for that) but please don’t take that as an indication that things are going quiet on the blog in 2017 – far from it.

I’m hoping to get back to posting frequently and regularly in the next week or so and to hopefully catch up on the big backlog of reviews that have piled up on my desk over the past few months. I’ve had a few emails asking what airline products I’ll be reviewing in the year ahead so I thought I’d publish a few details of what you can expect to see on Traveling For Miles in 2017.

I’ve either already experienced the following airline cabins or I’m booked to experience them in 2017 so they will all definitely appear on Traveling For Miles in the near future.

First Class Cabins

When I first started writing Traveling For Miles I said that you wouldn’t catch me writing too many First Class reviews because I prefer to save my miles for Business Class awards (they’re usually more than good enough for me)….but the AAdvantage devaluation last March temporarily changed my attitude.

When American decimated its award chart in early 2017 the biggest hits were taken by the aspirational awards on partner airlines (some award coasts increased by over 50%) and I could suddenly see myself never experiencing cabins like Cathay Pacific First Class or the amazing Etihad First Class Apartments…so I decided to burn some miles before the devaluation deadline and splurge just a little.

I reviewed Cathay Pacific’s 777-300ER First Class product last year but, coming up, I’ll also post reviews of:

  • The Etihad First Class Apartment

Business Class Cabins

Reviewing Business Class cabins is much more in wheelhouse and, in 2017, I’ll be reviewing a lot of cabins that will be of interest to OneWorld flyers but I’m also throwing in a couple of non-OneWorld airlines just to add a bit of variety.

Having said that, the following list is very “Qatar heavy”:

  • American Airlines 787-9 Dreamliner Business Class

  • Cathay Pacific A330 Business Class
  • Delta One (Business Class) 767

Premium Economy Cabins

I was very interested to check out both of the following Premium Economy cabins as one comes with a pretty good reputation and the other is still a relatively new product to the market…and one which a lot of OneWorld flyers may find themselves in over the coming years.

That’s Not All

As well as all of those airline cabins I’ll also be posting reviews of a variety of airline lounges I’ll be visiting (including a review of the highly rated Qatar Airways Al Safwa First Class lounge in Doha) and reviews of the hotels I’ll be staying in.

My 2017 hotel stays will be heavily biased towards Marriott as I make a concerted effort to hit Lifetime Platinum status before Marriott Rewards & SPG are merged but there will be Hyatt’s and Hiltons thrown in as well.

Lastly, I’ll be taking Joanna on another mystery trip this summer (the first such trip was last year) and that should provide me with some very special reviews as well…although I can’t mention what those may be just in case she decides to read the blog! 🙂

2017 is going to be an exciting year for me as far as my travels go so hopefully I’ll be able to post some reviews that does justice to those experiences. If there’s a product you’d like me to review (that I haven’t mentioned above) leave me a note in the comments section below and I’ll see what I can do…I have room in my diary for 1 or possibly 2 more trips that I haven’t yet booked 🙂
