IHG has launched a new sale in which it’s offering guests complimentary breakfast and up to 20% off on bookings at select resorts across Asia, Oceania and the Pacific for stays made deep into next year.

The promotion

Enjoy up to 20% off with breakfast included when you stay 3 nights or more at selected resorts in Australia, Japan, Micronesia, French Polynesia, the South Pacific Islands, Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

Key terms

• The IHG One Rewards Member Stay Longer Pay Less Resorts Promotion is valid only for selected bookings made from August 27 – September 11, 2024 (both dates inclusive) (“Booking Dates”) for stays at participating IHG® branded hotels and resorts in Southeast Asia, South Korea, Australasia, South Pacific, Japan, Guam, Saipan, Hong Kong and Taiwan until June 30, 2025 (or until end of inventory) using the “Stay Longer & Save Member Exclusive with Breakfast” rate during the Booking Dates.
• The Promotion offers up to 20% discount off the hotel’s Best Flexible Rate and dates when the rate will be available for stays will vary at Participating Hotels.
• Specific dates when the Promotion is available may vary at Participating Hotels and availability will be specified at the time of booking.
• Rates are per room, per night for up to two adults sharing a room and are subject to availability during the Stay Dates.
• Rate includes breakfast for up to two residents sharing a room.
• Promotion is valid at Participating Hotels for varying length of stay with a minimum length of stay of three (3) consecutive nights. Some Participating Hotels may require a longer minimum length of stay and that will be specified at time of booking.
• Bookings must be made at least three (3) days in advance of arrival at the hotel.
• No deposit is required at the time of booking.
• Method of payment will be charged between time of booking and day of arrival.
• Cancellation and no show policy apply – bookings may be changed min. 21 days prior to arrival at the hotel, subject to the minimum length of stay requirements, although changing the date of your booking may result in different pricing and in case of cancellation after the aforementioned cancellation deadline or no show, the customer will be charged for the first night of stay.
• Breakfast at participating hotels is offered as buffet unless specified and is included for each night of stay.
• The Promotion is valid in Indonesia, Maldives, Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, Guam, Saipan, Australia, Fiji, French Polynesia, Hong Kong and Taiwan at participating IHG Hotels and Resorts.
• At Holiday Inn, Kids 12 years and under stay for free sharing parent’s guest room in existing bedding and eat free from the all-day dining restaurant with an accompanying paying adult guest.
• Tax, service charge, credit card surcharges are not included.
• The Promotion is not applicable to group bookings.
• Blackout dates (days when the offers are not available) may apply in some participating hotels. Final bill will be in hotel’s local currency.

Quick thoughts

It looks like 67 resorts across Asia, the Maldives, Oceania and Micronesia are participating in this promotion (the full list of participating properties has been reproduced at the end of this article), so that looks like it should give customers quite a bit of choice, but be aware that some resorts (e.g. in Polynesia) seem to be offering this deal on a very limited number of dates.

This is what I seem to see every time I search for availability in Bora Bora …

… and with IHG’s ‘view available dates’ feature not working (at the time of writing), it’s difficult to see just how easily this promotion can be used IHG’s highly desirable properties.

That aside, there are a few other key things to note.

Firstly, the discounts on offer are based on the best flexible rate which is often not the cheapest rate that IHG publishes, and that means that you’re unlikely to find many examples of where you can save 20% on the cheapest rate that the property offers.

The good news, however, is that there are a significant number of properties (based on the searches that we’ve done) where the sale rate is the cheapest rate being offered, and that’s not always the case when it comes to IHG’s sales.

Secondly, even though the sale prices are a discounted version of the best flexible rate, they’re not fully flexible – they can only be cancelled or changed up to 21 days before check-in – so keep that in mind when booking.

Note: This is actually better than what we often see with IHG’s sales where the sale rate requires full prepayment and cancellations are not allowed.

Thirdly, make sure you use the sale page to search for deals as the main IHG.com site doesn’t appear to offer the ‘One Day, Day One’ sale rate option.

The final thing to point out about this deal is that 1- or 2-night bookings are not eligible for sale pricing – a minimum stay of 3-nights is required.

Bottom line

IHG is now running a sale for resort stays in the Maldives, Asia, Oceania and across the Pacific in which it’s offering guests complimentary breakfast and up to 20% off the best flexible rates for bookings made by 11 September 2024 for stays taken by 30 June 2025.
