Wyndham Rewards has today launched “Member Month” which will see the loyalty program offering its members special offers across five separate weeks. The promotion kicks off with members being given a bonus on all points purchases made through 5 April.

Every Wednesday from today through 31 March, Wyndham Rewards will offer its members (in the U.S. and Canada) a new surprise offer with the program saying that the offers will range from discounts on hotels in popular destinations to bonus point offers and more.

The Member Month promotions kick off today with a 40% bonus on Wyndham Rewards points purchases made through 5 April (a minimum point purchase applies).

The offer & the numbers

Members can buy a maximum of 63,000 points in this sale at a cost of $585 which sees each point costing approximately 0.93 cents.

Wyndham Rewards allows members to redeem points for free nights at three different price points – 7,500 points per night, 15,000 points per night, and 30,000 points per night – so, at a cost of 0.93 cents/point, members can effectively buy nights at a cost of $70, $140, and $280.

As with a lot of points sales, this can be both a very good and a very bad deal and it will all depend on where a member chooses to redeem any points purchased in this sale. Buying 30,000 points for $280 to book a Days Inn on Maui that costs just $174 + taxes per night is clearly a bad idea…

…but buying 15,000 points for $140 to book A Ramada in Israel costing over $400/night would be a fantastic deal.

As will all points/miles sales, the key here is to do the research, to check the cash rates at your preferred destinations, to check that award nights are available, and then to only buy points in this sale if the math makes sense.

Don’t forget

Wyndham Rewards sells its miles through Points.com so there’s no scope to earn a travel/hotel bonus by using a credit card that offers bonus points for shopping in one of those categories. What this means is that this is a good opportunity to use a credit card on which you’re working towards a welcome bonus (like this one), or to use card_name which will earn you 2 points/dollar on up to $50,000 in spending per year (1 point/dollar thereafter – terms apply).

Other upcoming offers

Wyndham Rewards is keeping tight-lipped when it comes to the specifics of the other offers and deals that it will be launching but you can keep up with the latest offers (and the full terms and conditions) by visiting the dedicated Member Month page.

While new deals will launch weekly, most will run for at least two weeks or more, so members will be able to take advantage of multiple offers throughout the promotion period.

Bottom line

Member Month from Wyndham Rewards has launched today with the loyalty program offering a bonus of up to 40% on points sales made through 5 April. A new deal/offer will appear every week for the next four weeks which most hanging around for at least a couple of weeks. Come back next week to see what new offer Wyndham Rewards has published.
