From View From the Wing – American Just Announced 2015 Program and it’s Really Good: This is probably the biggest news in the loyalty game this week and news that’s been awaited with baited breath. Would American’s new management destroy the best airline awards program or would they play nice? Spoiler alert – they played nice, really nice. Lots more details via the link above.
From The Points Guy – The Best Airlines To Fly Coach Domestically: As much as we’d all like to fly up front on all our journeys the truth is that we end up in Coach quite a bit too (we can’t clear those upgrades every time!) This will be useful piece for anyone still contemplating the best airline(s) to fly when heading to any one of the Marriott or Starwood resorts around the US.
From Loyalty Lobby – IHG InterContinental Europe Weekend Escapes October 6 – February 15, 2015: IHG is one of our favourite Hotel loyalty programs when we’re not sticking with Marriott or Starwood (they have some great European properties). They’ve brought back their offer of 15% off “breakfast inclusive” rates for stays at European Intercontinental Hotels booked by 10 February. From Hack My Trip – Does It Matter When You Buy Tickets?: Every now and again a travel magazine/website will get it into its head that it’s a good idea to hypothesize on when (what day/time) you can get the best deals on air fares – this time it’s the turn of “Airline Reporting Corp.”. Needless to say their conclusions are nonsense but it’s always interesting to see what they have to say – and this is HMT’s take on their results.
From Pizza In Motion – St. Regis Rome To Be Sold and Renovated: We got worried when we first saw the title of this piece as we have a soft spot for Starwood’s St Regis brand – we’ve had some great luck with room upgrades – but all’s ok. Although the property is being sold it will still sit within the Starwood portfolio – this time with a nice shiny new make over.
