We’ve been seeing more and more good cash back and points earning deals on hotel bookings recently and a couple of deals that have proved popular are back and available today – 10 AAdvantage points per dollar or 10% cash back on bookings made with Marriott for stays at select brands.

Earn 10 AAdvantage Miles/Dollar With Marriott

If you’re thinking of making a Marriott booking and you collect American Airlines AAdvantage miles then  the AAdvantage eShopping portal is running a deal you should be aware of – you can earn 10 AAdvantage Miles for every dollar spent on select Marriott bookings.

I value AAdvantage miles at a conservative 1.2 cents each (others may value them higher) so, by my valuation, this is essentially a 12% rebate on select Marriott stays.

Things to Note

I’ve been careful to say that you can earn the bonus miles on “select Marriott stays” because, per the terms on the AAdvantage eShopping portal, not all Marriott brands are participating.

The following Marriott brands are excluded from the promotion:

  • Ritz-Carlton Destination Clu
  • Design Hotels
  • Bulgari

The following hotels are excluded from the promotion too:

  • Atlantis, Autograph Collection
  • Bulgari Hotel, London
  • Joshua G.E. Medical Corp. Conference Center
  • Jesse Jones Rotary Conference Center
  • Marriott Ranch
  • Protea Hotel Amani Beach
  • Protea Hotel Mbweni Ruins
  • The Ritz-Carlton London
  • U.S. Postal Service Conference Center
  • Four Points by Sheraton Havana
  • The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, Autograph Collection

Also, please make sure you take note of the following:

  • When booking, don’t use any discount codes that aren’t available on the AAdvantage eShopping site as these are likely to stop the miles from posting.
  • The miles will only be awarded on Marriott bookings so gift card purchases will not earn you any AAdvantage Miles.

Get 10% Cash Back On Select Marriott Bookings

Ebates has brought back its 10% cash back deal for Marriott bookings but you should be a little careful before diving in as, just like last time, it doesn’t look like all brands/properties are participating.

The strange thing here is that, just like last time, the exclusions appear to differ depending on which of the 10% cash back links you select…..for example:

Here are the exclusions for the JW Marriott cash back link:

  • ExecuStay
  • Ritz Carlton
  • Edition
  • BVLGARI
  • Grand Residences

Excluded properties:

  • The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas
  • Riyadh Marriott
  • Aspen Wye River Conference Center (Maryland)
  • The Marriott Ranch Bed and Breakfast (Virginia)
  • AC Hotel Lisboa
  • AC Hotel Carlton Madrid
  • AC Hotel Som
  • AC Hotel Nuevo Portil Golf.

And here are the exclusions for the Marriott Bonvoy link:

  • Ritz-Carlton Destination Club
  • Design Hotels
  • Bulgari
  • W Hotels

Excluded properties:

  • Atlantis, Autograph Collection
  • Bulgari Hotel, London
  • Joshua G.E. Medical Corp. Conference Center
  • Jesse Jones Rotary Conference Center, Marriott Ranch
  • Protea Hotel Amani Beach
  • Protea Hotel Mbweni Ruins
  • The Ritz-Carlton London
  • U.S. Postal Service Conference Center
  • Four Points by Sheraton Havana
  • The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas, Autograph Collection.

As before, I still have no idea what to make of this (will cash back be awarded on stay at EDITION properties if you click through the Marriott Bonvoy link?) so you’ll have to make your own mind up as to how to interpret this information.

It seems odd that there isn’t one set of exclusions which apply to all Marriott bookings through eBates so, if I was looking to book, I’d assume a worst case scenario and assume that all the exclusions apply to all the links…..but you may be more adventurous.

Bottom Line

These are some very nice offer indeed but be aware that neither the AAdvantage eShopping Mall or Ebates have posted an expiry date for their deals so they could disappear at any time (I’d be surprised if both are still going tomorrow) – if you were already planning on making a Marriott booking I’d use one of these deals and book sooner rather than later.

Lastly, please don’t make any Marriott bookings just because of these deals – yes, an effective rebate of 10% – 12% is very nice but it’s not a good deal if you end up making a booking and spending money you wouldn’t otherwise have spent.
