A Simple Workaround To An Annoying BA.com Glitch

There’s a very strange glitch that I occasionally get on the British Airways website which, while annoying, is very simple to workaround.

I haven’t seen this glitch mentioned anywhere so I thought I was the only one getting it…until I got three emails in the space of two days asking me about it.

The Glitch

When logging in to your British Airways Executive Club account you may see a confusing set of error messages like this:

They’re confusing because, if you look closely, you’ll notice that they actually contradict one another:

The error messages take up the space where you would normally find the option to book a flight with Avios:

If you’re getting these error message please don’t call the Executive Club Service Centre as the website suggests – that would be a colossal waste of your time.

If you want to book flights with cash you can still do that from the BA.com homepage and, if you want to book with Avios, this is what you do.

  • Click on the “Executive Club” link at the top of the page

  • From the dropdown menu that appears click on “Spending Avios”

  • On the resulting page you’ll see a “Reward Flights” box and within in it are the options to find availability and to book a rewards flight

Both links will work just fine and you’ll be able to search and book as normal.
