It’s the first day of a new month, so a new batch of Amex offers has appeared and two of the offers that have been published today offer targeted cardholders the chance to save up to 20% on spending made with six of Hilton’s brands.

1st offer – Get $50 back at Hilton, Curio & Canopy  properties

Headline Details

Get a one-time $50 statement credit by using your enrolled eligible Card to spend a minimum of $250 in one or more transactions on room rate and room charges, when you pay for your stay with participating Hilton properties from 4/1/2022 to 6/30/2022. Book direct with Hilton.

Thoughts

$50 back on $250 of spending is a discount of 20%, but realistically, it’s likely to be a little lower unless you’re lucky enough to keep your spending as close to $250 as possible (without going under).

If you were already planning a trip then this is obviously a very nice discount to get and it may be enough to make you change any reservations you may already have. If you weren’t already looking to book a stay, then this isn’t an offer that should see you making new plans.

2nd Offer – Get $100 back at Waldorf Astoria, Conrad & LXR properties

Thoughts

The first bit of good news is that the spending required to trigger the rebate doesn’t need to be made in a single transaction so there’s no pressing need for a cardholder to hit the $500 target with a single booking.

The second bit of good news is that this offer is being targeted to a wide variety of American Express cards including co-branded Hilton cards so there are bonus points on offer here as well as a rebate.

AS usual, it’s disappointing to see that the offer is restricted to properties in the US & US as that makes this a considerably more restrictive offer than it should be but as that’s the way Amex always does things, this isn’t a big surprise.

Overall, however, it’s good to see this offer being made available to targeted cardholders and if you’re considering a Waldorf, Conrad, or LXR stay (in the US or US Territories) before the end of July you should definitely be checking your American Express accounts to see if you have the offer waiting for you – $500 isn’t hard to spend at Hilton’s higher-end properties so anyone staying at a participating location should be able to trigger the statement credit with ease.

Don’t rush to load the deals

American Express often targets multiple cards belonging to the same person for these offers and that can cause an issue.

As soon as an offer is loaded to one card it will disappear from all the other cards so as the first card on which you see these offers may not be the best one to load them to, you should take your time deciding on the best course of action.

Ideally, you’ll see both of these offers targeted to a Hilton co-branded card (like the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card (review) which earns 12 Honors points/dollar on Hilton spending- terms apply) but, failing that, you should be looking to load it to a good travel card like the card_name which will earn 3 Membership Rewards points per dollar for all travel spending (terms apply).

Bottom line

While we can’t really describe these offers as “amazing”, they still represent very good value if you were already planning a trip. More importantly, they’re also another good way to recoup part of whatever annual fees you may have paid for your cards.

There’s no penalty for loading the offers and then not using them so, even if you have no immediate plans to stay at a Hilton property, I suggest you load these offers to your card(s) just in case your plans change.
