American Express is currently targeting cardholders for two good deals for spending at Dell. One offer is good for a $120 statement credit while the second offer is for a substantial number of Membership Rewards points which I value at significantly more than $120.

Using The Right Cards For These Offers

There are a variety of cards on which you’ll probably find these offers but there are two cards in particular that will return the better deals if you’ve been fortunate enough to have these offers targeted to them.

American Express Blue Business Plus Card

a credit card with numbers and symbols

The Blue Business Plus credit card from American Express offers 2 points/dollar on all spending up to $50,000/year so, assuming you can load these offers on to this card, you’ll earn either…

  • $120 cash back and 2 points/dollar on however much you spend with Dell (assuming you haven’t already spent $50,000 on this card) or…
  • 12,000 bonus Membership Rewards points (which I value at $180) and 2 points/dollar on however much you spend with Dell (assuming you haven’t already spent $50,000 on this card).

The bonus points would be the offer I would choose but the cash back offer is an effective rebate of up to 20% so it shouldn’t be dismissed out of hand.

Business Platinum Card From American Express

a silver credit card with a picture of a man

The Business Platinum Card from American Express only earns 1 point/dollar on spending made with Dell but it also offers two $100 Dell credits every year (one for use between January and June and the other for use between July and December) so this should be stackable with either of the offers highlighted here.

$220 back (or 12,000 points + $100 back) on spending that can be as low as $599 is a fantastic deal.

Earn/Save More With Portals

Both offers say that purchases have to be made through Dell.com and, fortunately, Dell.com is a partner with a host of shopping portals.

Clicking through any of these portals will earn you miles, points, or cash back in addition to whatever earnings you get directly from American Express (don’t forget that the 2% back from Rakuten can be earned as 2 Membership Rewards points per dollar which would boost your MR earnings even more).

Bottom Line

At the very least there’s an offer of up to 20% cash back available for spending at Dell with these Amex offers and that’s a very good deal indeed. Generally speaking, I’d almost certainly choose to earn the bonus points over the statement credit if I had the choice of both although, if I had a Business Platinum card with an unused Dell credit, I’d choose whatever offer was targeted to that card regardless of which one it was.

Have you been targeted for these offers and, if you have, on which cards are they targeted?
