Quick thoughts
As Amex offers go, this is a pretty good one…assuming you have plans to spend at least $500 with Alaska Airlines before November 14th.
The first bit of good news is that I’ve had this offer targeted to a number of Amex cards (including the Platinum Card® from American Express) so it doesn’t look like it’s a narrowly targeted offer.
The second bit of good news is that the $500 of spending that’s needed to trigger the $100 rebate isn’t restricted to airfare spending. Per the terms of the offer, any spending on upgrades, seat selection fees, and baggage fees will contribute to the $500 target (although in-flight spending is excluded).
The third bit of good news is that you don’t have to spend $500 in a single transaction to trigger the statement credit. The offer clearly mentions “one or more purchases” when discussing the spending requirement so that should make it considerably easier for people to make the most of this deal.
Personally, I’ve saved this offer to my Amex Platinum Card so that I can combine it with the 5 points/dollar that the card offers on spending made directly with airlines, but even if you don’t have this offer targeted to a card with strong airline earnings, the rebate is more than enough to make the offer enticing.
Bottom line
If you have plans to spend $500 or more with Alaska Airlines in the next couple of months you should check your online Amex accounts to see if you’ve been targeted for an offer that would give you the chance to earn a $100 statement credit. Make sure you read the terms and conditions of the offer carefully before you hand over your credit card details as not all spending made through the Alaska Airlines website will count towards the offer’s spending requirement but with airfare, upgrade fees, baggage fees, and seat selection fees all included, this is a deal that most fans of Alaska Airlines should be able to maximize with relative ease.
