Rakuten is a portal I write about reasonably frequently because it offers miles & points fans a very easy way to collect bonus American Express Membership Rewards points when they shop at a large variety of well-known online retailers. Right now, and for a limited time, Rakuten is offering all members triple cash back (or triple Membership Rewards Points) at an impressive number of stores. At some stores, the offer is even better.

Earn An Easy $30 Cash Back

Rakuten is currently offering new members $30 cash back (on top of any other cash back they earn) when they sign up (here) and spend $30 through the portal within 90 days of signing up. Considering the deals on offer on Rakuten right now and the fact that we’re rapidly heading towards various holidays, spending $30 in 90 days shouldn’t be difficult.

Earn Amex Membership Rewards Points

If you’re happiest earning cash back there isn’t much for you to do except to make sure that you’ve registered with Rakuten and that you click through to the various retailers using the links on the Rakuten website.

However, if like me you prefer to earn Membership Rewards Points over cash back (with Rakuten 1% cash back = 1 MR Point), there’s a little bit more work for you to do to ensure that you’ve selected Membership Rewards Points as your chosen way to be rewarded.

Here’s a link to a simple step-by-step guide that will show you how to make sure that you’ll earn Membership Rewards Points for any shopping you do through Rakuten’s links.

Bottom Line

Rakuten is currently offering triple cash back/Membership Rewards points across a range of retailers which whom it has partnerships. While the cash back on offer is great, most miles & points fans will do better by selecting Membership Rewards as their chosen way to be rewarded for shopping through the portal.
