The news that I (and probably a host of other Angelenos) have been waiting for has finally broken – Qatar Airways will serve Los Angeles with a Qsuite Business Class equipped aircraft from early 2019.

Qatar Airways has been deploying its award-winning Business Class seats on an ever-increasing number of routes but it’s only recently that its long-range 777 aircraft (which operate to cities like LA, Auckland and Buenos Aires) started to see their cabins upgraded.

With the Doha – Los Angeles flight blocked at over 16.5 hours I’m surprised it’s taken this long for Qatar Airways to get around to offering Angelenos its amazing Business Class product but, from 2 February 2019, that will all be put right.

Here’s the schedule for the route….

QR739 DOH 08:00 – 13:20 LAX
QR740 LAX 15:05 – 17:55+1 day DOH

….and here’s ExpertFlyer showing the Qsuite Business Class cabin layout on 2 February:

The even better news here is that, for now at least, Business Class Saver awards on this route are wide open and bookable for 70,000 AAdvantage Miles one-way.

Here’s Business Class Saver Award availability for Doha – LAX in February:

And here’s Business Class Saver Award availability in the opposite direction:

Award availability for the following months looks pretty similar.

It’s important to note that there hasn’t been any formal announcement from Qatar Airways to let us know that this is happening so changes are possible but, based on what we’ve seen a lot of other routes which now operate with Qsuites Business Class, this doesn’t mean all that much – Qatar Airways hasn’t bothered to announce the introduction of Qsuites Business Class on at least half the routes on which it now offers the product.

With Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires getting Qsuites Business Class from 1 December this year this just leaves Auckland as a Qatar Airways ultra long-haul destination that doesn’t offer the Qsuite cabin.
