Marriott’s second promotion of the year is now open for registration although, as the first promotion was targeted, this is technically the first Marriott promotion of 2019 which is open to all Marriott Bonvoy members.

Marriott’s biggest (most widely available) promotion of the year so far is called “Double Take”, it requires registration, and it offers double points on stays during the promotion period starting with the second stay.

  • Register by 21 May 2019 (link to registration page)
  • Stay at any participating hotels and resorts worldwide between 19 March and 4 June 2019.
  • Earn double points on stays* starting with your second stay.
  • Marriott Bonvoy U.S. credit card holders earn an exclusive bonus of 500 additional points for weekend stays** starting with the first stay.

*A “stay” is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/check-out activity. Remember to book direct to earn points.
**A “weekend stay” is defined as a stay that includes a Friday or Saturday night regardless of where the hotel is located.

Where To Register & Registration Issues

If for some reason the registration link doesn’t work for you it’s actually quite simple to find the page.

  • Clicking on the ‘Promotions’ button will open up your ‘Promotion Central’ page and you should see the promotion and the link to register part-way down this page.

There’s a good chance you may see an error message like this one after you attempt to register….

…and this is because Marriott IT is in competition with British Airways IT for the ‘most incompetent IT department of the year’ award at the upcoming Freddies.

This is the message I saw when I registered (hence the screenshot) but, when I went back to my promotions page, Marriott’s Double Take promotion was showing as in progress for my account:

It looks like the error message is a glitch but it’s worth checking back in a day or so just to make sure that your registration is still recorded.

Bottom Line

I really, really dislike it when hotel promotions start with the second stay (Hyatt’s latest promotion has the same rule) – its annoying and a little insulting…but at least Marriott doesn’t appear to have a huge list of properties opting out of this promotion.

Double Marriott Bonvoy points (base points only) are unlikely to influence many people’s hotel bookings one way or the other but it’s always worth registering nonetheless.

Even if you have absolutely no plans to stay at Marriott properties during the promotion period you should still register as never know when your plans change and you find yourself at a Marriott property – it would be a shame to leave points on the table just because you didn’t take 30 seconds out of your day to register now.

  1. I really haven’t been down on Marriott like many until recently. It started when they cheated me out of 2 nights of credit toward the end of the year that cost me the next elite level. Then they changed the name, then the whole id theft mess. Now this….Like most things Marriott it doesn’t work for me no matter how I try to “hack” into this promotion. Sadly this isn’t helping my opinion or Marriott…..er I mean Bonvoy or whatever they are trying to call themselves this week.

    • I can see where you’re coming form – there’s a general “too big to fail” vibe coming from Marriott right now which isn’t particularly attractive
