At the beginning of every month Flying Blue (the loyalty program for Air France/KLM) releases discounted mileage awards for Economy, Premium Economy and Business Class travel on Air France and KLM. These “Promo Awards” are advertised as offering “up to 50% off” award travel but, while some awards may be discounted by 50%, generally speaking we’re more used to seeing discounts of between 20 and 25% on the awards most of us would like to book.
Well, we’re at the beginning of a new month so the February 2018 Flying Blue Promo awards have now been published and they cover travel between 1 April and 31 May 2019.
Bookings must be made by 28 February 2019.
Flying Blue February 2019 Promo Awards
As usual I’m going to concentrate on the long-haul awards and this time around there are a few that look interesting:

North America Promo Awards
There are just 3 premium cabin Flying Blue Promo awards to/from North America this month and all three are for Business Class redemptions.

Seattle and Edmonton both have 25% reductions while award bookings between Montreal and Europe are discounted by 50% – that’s a truly fantastic deal!
If you’re based in the US and you’re short of miles don’t forget that you can transfer points to Flying Blue from all three major credit card currencies (Amex, Citi and Chase) so, for this set of awards, you can fly Business Class roundtrip between Montreal and Europe for just 53,000 Membership Rewards Points/Ultimate Rewards Points/ThankYou Points.
Asia/Middle East Promo Awards
The Asia/Middle East February Promo Awards are where the majority of the premium cabin promo awards are to be found:

72,000 miles for a roundtrip Premium Economy booking between Europe and Taipei looks pretty good value but I suspect most European-based travelers will get more out of the Business Class award to Abu Dhabi.
At just 81,750 miles for roundtrip Business Class between Europe and Abu Dhabi this promo award is pretty good value and could be an economical way to get some sunshine while it’s still cold back home.
Caribbean/Indian Ocean Promo Awards
April and May may not be winter months but they still fall at a time of year when a lot of people are looking visit the Caribbean and the Indian Ocean so it’s not surprising to only find one premium cabin Promo Award for travel between the Europe and these regions…..and it’s not even for Business Class or for the Caribbean.

This is exactly the same award that was available in December so, this time around, I didn’t have to look up where Antananarivo is 🙂
That’s a long way to travel so the 50% discount on Premium Economy awards may well be useful if you’d like to head to the Indian Ocean.
Central & South America Promo Awards
There isn’t too much to get excited about here (1 Business Class and 1 Premium Economy award) .
144,000 Miles still sounds a lot for a roundtrip Business Class award to Brazil so, for me, the 66,000 mile award fro roundtrip travel to/from Panama City looks to be the better deal.
Bottom Line
If you’re looking to travel between North America and Europe you’re not going to do much better than the 53,000 miles needed for a roundtrip Business Class award to/from Montreal.
Outside of the North America awards my favorite deals are to/from Abu Dhabi and Taipei but there are also a number of other premium cabin awards on offer that should help preserve your miles balances as well as getting you to your destination in a lot more comfort than you’d get in Economy Class.
Don’t forget that these awards are limited so, if you see something that interests you, I suggest booking sooner rather than later – I expect availability to dwindle very quickly.
