One of the few aspects of SPG that Marriott Bonvoy appears to have adopted is the idea of targeted promotions which appear in members’ accounts ever now and again – there doesn’t seem to be any pattern to when they’re loaded.

Right now a new set of Marriott Bonvoy targeted promotions appear to have been loaded and, from what I’ve seen so far, there are at least three different offers doing the rounds.

Loyalty Lobby has noted that the following two promotions are live:

  • Earn double bonus points for eligible paid stays of two nights or longer
  • Earn up to 5,000 bonus points on eligible paid stays that include a weekend night

Personally, I’ve been targeted for this offer:

The premise of the offer is simple:

  • Registration is required (link)
  • Stay through 30 September 2019
  • Earning period starts the day after members register through the end of the month, plus an additional three months
  • Earn the following bonuses:
    • 1,500 bonus points after one stay
    • 3,000 additional points after a second stay
    • 4,500 additional points after a third stay.

The only brands which appear to be excluded from this promotion are ExecuStay and Marriott Executive Apartments while Marriott Vacation Club owner-occupied weeks will also not count towards the stays needed to trigger the bonuses.

To see the full terms and conditions (and to check if you’ve been targeted for a Marriott Bonvoy promotion) visit the ‘Promotions’ section of your Marriott Bonvoy account (link)
The terms and conditions clearly state that this promotion will stack with other promotions running at the same time so these targeted bonuses can be used in conjunction with Marriott’s ‘Endless Earning’ summer promotion.

Bottom Line

I’m not going to pretend that I’m overly excited about the potential to earn 9,000 Marriott Bonvoy points (which I value at $63) but it’s better than nothing.

One of the positives of the promotion I’ve been targeted for is that there aren’t any annoying hurdles to clear in order to earn the bonus points (there’s no need for a weekend night to be included in any of my stays and there’s no minimum stay requirement) so at least the bonus points should be easy to earn.

Have you been targeted for a Marriott Bonvoy promotion?

  1. A stay requires at least 2 nights?

*A “stay” is defined as consecutive nights spent at the same hotel, regardless of check-in/checkout activity.
**A “weekend night” is defined as a Friday or Saturday night.
