Marriott has announced that it has introduced “exclusive member benefits” across the Asia-Pacific region as it expands its Marriott Moments offering and adds kids, dining and spa benefits too.

Marriott Bonvoy Restaurants & Bars Benefits

Regardless of whether Marriott Bonvoy members are staying at a property or not they are now entitled to select benefits at over 2,800 participating bars and restaurants across the Asia-Pacific region.

Elite members are now entitled to the following savings off their food & beverage bills.

  • Basic members – up to 10%
  • Silver Elites – up to 15%
  • Gold Elites – up to 15%
  • Platinum Elite – up to 20%
  • Titanium Elite – up to 20%
  • Ambassador Elite – up to 20%

With a minimum spend of $10 Marriott Bonvoy members can now also earn up to 10 points per dollar spent at participating Marriott Bonvoy properties in the Asia-Pacific region.

These are earnings on top of whatever a guest will earn on the credit card they use so, for example, it’s now entirely possible to earn 10 Marriott points/dollar AND 5 Citi ThankYou points per dollar for the same spend when using the Citi Prestige card.

Marriott Bonvoy Spa Benefits – “Relax & Earn”

Marriott Bonvoy has over 210 participating spas across the Asia-Pacific region and each now allows members to earn up to 10 points/dollar on treatments/massages even if the Bonvoy member isn’t staying at the property in which the spa is housed.

Gold Elite members and above will also be offered a choice of complimentary enhancement services with each spa treatment.

Marriott Bonvoy Moments

Marriott has said that it’s expanding its Marriott Moments experiences to offer more options in the Asia-Pacific region. So far it has added seven Maroon 5 concerts across Tokyo, Seoul, Manila, Kaohsiung, Macau, Singapore and Bangkok (all already sold out) and it will be adding opportunities to enjoy VIP access to the Hong Kong Sevens tournament in April.

Bottom Line

This is mostly clever marketing from Marriott as why not incentivize people to visit your properties even if they’re not actually staying there? If you can’t get their hotel budget go for their vacation spending budget instead.

I’m not sure many vacationers would choose to visit a property other than the one they’re staying at if they wanted a spa treatment but, with a number of Marriott hotels in Asia offering Michelin-starred dining, I can definitely see guests visiting these restaurants whether they’re staying on site or not – the extra points will be very welcome.

It’s interesting that Marriott has used the phrase “up to” when outlining the discounts available on dining/drinking and when outlining the number of points that can be earned per dollar spent – I can’t seem to find any breakdown explaining what triggers the upper level earnings/discount and what will only see a lower level earn/discount.

I’m visiting the Asia-Pacific region in April and staying at a Marriott property too so I’ll see what I can find out.
