Following the recent commencement of service between Frankfurt and Tampa, Lufthansa has been busy announcing more flights to more destinations from it’s Frankfurt hub.

The additions announced so far are:

  • End of October – Nairobi (Kenya)
  • December – Cancun (Mexico), Malé (Maldives) and Mauritius
  • March – Panama City (Panama)

No schedules have yet been released for these routes.

In good news for fans of the Airbus A380, Lufthansa has announced that, this winter, its Super Jumbo will replace the 747 aircraft currently operating on the Frankfurt – Honk Kong route.

In un-typical German fashion the carrier’s press release didn’t mention when the equipment change will take place but, after playing around with Lufthansa’s booking page, it appears that the first A380 flight will be on Saturday 24 October.

It would appear that the equipment change is a permanent one as the booking pages currently show the A380 on this route up until the end of the bookable period (30 September 2016).

The flight times are:

LH796 FRA 22:05 – 15:40+1 HKG

LH797 HKG 23:05 – 05:40+1 FRA

In other Lufthansa route news:

Service between Munich and Cape Town will resume from 25 October using A340-600 aircraft in a 4-class configuration….which means that the route will have Lufthansa’s new Premium Economy product:

If Cape Town is a bit too far to go to escape the European winter then Lufthansa’s new flights between Munich and the Canary Islands may be more to your liking:

October 25: Munich – Fuerteventura

October 31: Munich – Tenerife

And, if heat/warmth isn’t what you’re looking for:

Lufthansa will commence flights between Munich and Kittilä (Finland) on 19 December. Sitting 170km inside the Arctic Circle Finland’s largest winter sports centre should provide all the cold weather fun you could possibly want 🙂
