Accor Hotels is the hotelier that is best known for brands such as Sofitel and Grand Mercure at the more upscale end of the market, Novotel in the middle of the market and Ibis in the budget range… but its reach is far greater than that.

Accor purchased the Fairmont and Raffles hotel groups in late 2015, it bought OneFineStay in April 2016 and it’s in the process of building up an impressive footprint across the globe (although the hotelier is still very “Europe heavy”).

Le Club AccorHotels (Accor’s loyalty program) has just announced a new promotion which, if you’re an Accor fan/loyalist, can be rewarding.

The promotion is simple:

  • Registration is required though this page
  • Stay three times between 15 February and 11 June 2019
  • Earn:
    • 500 bonus points on your first stay (must be 2 or more nights)
    • 2,500 bonus points on your second stay (must be 2 or more nights)
    • 3,000 bonus points on your third stay (must be 2 or more nights)
  • All stays booked before 12 February 2019 will each earn an additional 500 bonus points
  • Existing bookings will not count towards this promotion.

This bring the total possible bonus earnings to 7,500 Accor Points after 3 stays totalling no fewer than 6 nights.

All bookings need to be made via the Accor Hotels website.

What Are Le Club AccorHotels Points Worth?

Accor points can either be used for a cash discount off a future stay or can be transferred over to select airline loyalty programs.

2,000 Accor Points will earn you a €40 discount off a future Accor Hotels stay so the 7,500 points on offer here are worth (at most) €150 (~$170)

If you don’t think you’ll have a need of a discount on a future stay here are some of the main Accor Hotels airline partners complete with transfer rates:

  • Aeroplan – 2:1
  • Air France/KLM (FlyingBlue) – 2:1
  • British Airways – 2:1
  • Delta – 2:1
  • Emirates – 2:1
  • Etihad – 2:1
  • Iberia 1:1
  • Korean Air – 2:1
  • Singapore Airlines – 2:1
  • United Airlines – 2:1

Ye best deal here (from a value perspective) is undoubtably a transfer to Iberia (from where you can move the Avios across to BA if that suits your purposes)…but this may not be the shrewdest of moves if last year’s Iberia promotion left you with a negative Iberia Plus balance! 🙂

I value Avios at around 1.0 each so the 7,500 Accor Points would net only $75 of Avios….but I suspect a lot of people will still prefer the Avios than Accor Points.

Bottom Line

There’s definitely value to be had here if you can make the 2-night minimum work for you on your stays….and you can earn a lot more Accor Points by stacking this promotion with the 3x Points offer that Accor is offering (through 31 March) on stays at its North America properties.

If you participate in this promotion make sure you’re aware of how the points earning works, make sure you book before 12 February if you can and think carefully before you decide how to use the points you earn.
