When Singapore Airline announced its award chart devaluation at the start of the year one of the few pieces of good news that appeared at the same time was that the airline’s ‘Spontaneous Escapes’ promotions would become a permanent program.

Singapore Airlines Spontaneous Escapes are promotions in which the airline offers discounted award pricing in select cabins on select routes and, based on past history, the airline isn’t afraid of offering these deals on some pretty big routes so these promotions are worth checking out.

Right now, true to its word, the airline is running a new set of Spontaneous Escapes which need to be booked by 28 February and, once again, there are some interesting redemption options available in the promotion.

Here are the headline deals:

For travel between 1 and 31 March 2019:

  • Get a 50% redemption discount off Economy Saver award rates on select routes
  • Book Business Class redemptions at regular Economy Saver rates on select routes
  • Book Premium Economy redemptions at regular Economy Saver rates on the Singapore – Los Angeles route.

Full terms and conditions have been reproduced at the bottom of this post.

Bottom Line

There are some very good deals here if you can make the dates and the flights work for you.

It’s a shame that the Business Class deals on the two European routes only appear to be for travel to Singapore and not for flights going the other way (you’ll get a discount on the way out but you’ll have to pay full price on the way back) but it’s hard to argue with 38,000 miles for a Singapore Airlines Business Class seat – on flights of this length that’s a great deal.

The America’s have missed out almost entirely in this latest set of Spontaneous Escapes but there are still some very good deals to be had if you’re flying between Singapore and the South Pacific (28,000 miles for Business Class to Sydney looks great to me) and if you’re flying between Singapore and various parts of Asia (15,000 miles for a Business Class award to Hong Kong stands out).

Don’t forget that taxes and fees will be added to these bookings (Singapore Airlines loves to add fees to its awards) but, even with those added, you should be getting a very good deal indeed.
